I just read through the thread... When I first read the 'XMM' in the thread, I didn't assume they were referring to ppl like our Little Miss Sunshine... heheheh didn't expect her to feel that way.
At one point of time I also felt a bit resentful towards people with expensive cameras and yet not knowing how to use them well... then I realized... it's their money. Whether they spend it or not has no effect on me. I just feel happy that more people are interested in photography...

Actually I felt that no matter what. Who are we to judge their equipment and photos in the first place? These people owned it thus they are the owner to their own equipments.
Like I told somebody before, we may have high expectation of our photos but we cannot impose that on others just because we felt that they are not talking photos that are of high quality right composition. E.g. For an Elder who are in their 80s or 90s. They don't really care if the photos are grainy, blurr or what. So long they can see their face in the photo and its a family photo. It doesn't matter to them the outcome. They just want their children to be in the photo and take time to be there. Its a way they could keep it as memories when their children busy at work or what.
Ultimately, photography is not just about composition, color, sharp or not so long the person who owns it is happy with it. There is no definition of a excellent photo on this earth. One mountain will always be higher than the others.
