Read quite a bit about Nissin Di622 with reviews and user experience easily found on the net. But there is very little information regarding Brilliant PZ46. Specs looks attractive and price slightly cheaper than Di622.

Does anyone here have experience to share regarding the Brilliant flash? TIA!

I saw someone selling the brilliant flash in the WTS section. Hope someone can shed some light, maybe comparing to Nissin or Canon Flash.

I'll like to know more abt it too. Thanks

All right people, I'm here to give my 2cents worth.

From what I heard, Brilliant deals mainly with commercial studio equipments, and therefore their flash is pretty impressive. (I use one.)
Right now, they're not targetting Singapore for sales yet, but at Europe.

So most probably, when it has established itself, and when you guys start writing good reviews on it, and hearing more of it online, it means that the price is gonna skyrocket...

Agreed. I bought Brilliant wanting to give the local company a chance, but I returned it the next day as the AF illuminator was out of my VF most of the time. Tried Di622 and so far pretty happy with it.

Quality wise such as swivel head movement, material used, zoom motor noise etc - Nissin Di622 is better. And is extremely easy to use. Rear-curtain sync works with my Canon 550D. OTOH, Brilliant is cheaper and it comes with an LCD screen which is not important personally.

agree , i bought the brilliant flash recently , but chuck it aside and went for nissin flash instead. nissin brand is still a good flash after all it being around for the last 20 years

DPanswers stated that Brilliant flashes are manufactured by Godox in China, is it true?

no idea... anw i juz bought a nissin :) quite happy with the purchase. its bigger than the canon 430ex unexpectedly.. if u wanna buy buy now, its $10 off + $20 worth of rechargable batt

hi,

i guess this might be a case of the typical steorotyping again. one negative review triggers others to review on no basis. i ever saw the demo before, and Brilliant flashes works fine. their studio kits are solid. i dont know what problem one of the dudes here mentioned, but i've nv encountered any of such before.

i did tested some side by side, i cant say the results are the same, it will never be anyway, all flashes need to be adjusted for +/- compensation. but after that is done, i dont see much difference between Brilliant and others. its good and certainly more than value for $.

As for Nissin 622 the difference is that it can be triggered by infra and flash which Brilliant cant. But both doesnt have wireless ETTL either. But big bang for the price i would say.

cheers.

lol i hate unfounded claims too... esp with regard to the 75-300mm vs 55-250mm

however after owning both lenses i see why everyone prefers the 55-250mm

as for the brilliant, to me their design really really sux. it looks fat, ugly and unprofessional esp at the IR red plastic see thru port. it looks as thought they roughly cut a hole in the plastic and stuck a piece of red plastic in its place

can the nissin flash twist right side 180 deg?

ooo design wise i dont have much comments though. tot it looks pretty cool though lolx. anyway Brilliant technical wise... i dont have complaints for it lol. personally i did comparision before and i dont see problems though. could be a case of over-blown issue tsk tsk tsk.

i must admit that the Brilliant's AF Assist Light isn't spot on but mount a telezoom on it and it's approx at the centre of the frame.

I've been using cheap 3rd party flashes and yes, the Brilliant flash lacks in build quality. even the cheaper Yong Nuo YN460 Mark II feels much solid beside it. However, the Brilliant flash has got every function that you'll need, even the 2nd curtain flash which, not all 3rd party flashes supports.

At the price that i got it at, no major complains from me. You might want to try the Sunpak -> http://bit.ly/cCxmZO
Oh yes, the Brilliant flashed worked on the 30D/40D/50D and 5D MkII. Haven't tried any other models but since it can work with the 5D MkII, should be safe.

Hi Kenny, I don't think anybody is stereotyping Brilliant. And as you can see, I have described very clearly the problem I had with the Brilliant unit I got. I showed the seller with photographs as proof and kudos to Tagotech they accepted the return no questions asked. If your unit works fine, then good for you. As for the other user who said he prefers to use his Di622 instead of the Brilliant unit, it would help if he elaborated the reasons to help potential buyers make their decision. On the other hand, your effort to try to "sweep under the carpet" these bad experiences sounds dubious.

Maybe you had a better copy. With a 90mm lens , mine was completely out of the VF. I was offered to exchange for another piece but I didn't want all the hassle. The Di622 isn't perfect but at least the AF assist light falls near the middle of the VF.
