Nothing new what?? I have never started thread to bash any nationality... so what is your point?

../azul123

my dear azul123,

you did not start this thread to bash prc, that i'm sure. after so long i know you aren't that sort.

but people will twist it that way. just look at every post here, given enough time and enough bigotry, it will turn into prc bashing for sure.. :bsmilie:

for more information, you can head to hwz edmw section. i think 50% of the threads there are inclined that way. shows what singapore has become. :bsmilie:

I dont envy the hawkers because they work really really hard.
those who dish out nice food work very hard. Look what time they are open. Look what time they are close. What you dont know is there are time to prepare too. And no weekends. And no public holiday. People eat at lunch time and they stand cooking/serving food. It is hot! It is steamy! They have to clean up the place else rating level go down. Too slow people complain. ...

quality of food normally go down.

I usually dont patronise hawker whose old uncle or auntiy not cooking. If got young one cooking I have to look if the old master is nearby to supervise, then I try and compare. If taste not good I go look for old master and complain to him quality has dropped. :(

old master look at you

then turn around take out wads of cash to count and yawn :bsmilie::bsmilie:

At this rate, I think by 2030, Republic of Singapore will become Singapore Special Administrative Region (SAR) of People's Republic of China (PRC).... :sticktong

There are always difference of opinion and there are policies that seemed to work initially but is a wrong decision in the long run.

It's just an opinion, let people say their piece.. for or against. So far it's been civil and that is a good thing. People write their pov based on their own experiences and their perspectives are different from you and I, that does not mean they are wrong.

Ignorant westerners had already questioned if Singapore is somewhere within China since decades ago.

New old master repeats your order to the PRC cook back in the kitchen after your little whining without even taking a look at you while counting his cash. :bsmilie:

 I go back and eat instant noodle :bheart:

One key point for me is that Singaporeans (in general) have the perception that the 'base jobs' are 'low class' and that being in the Service Industry deems you uneducated and unskilled. That is only right if they think that they can survive without them. Being a waiter, sales assistant is termed 'lousy', 'cheap' labour, unskilled.

How about those who clear your rubbish chutes? Clear your plates? Wash your dishes at the foodcourt and place them in a clean tray for you to have lunch/dinner? The man who delivers the disposable chopsticks so that you can pack your lunch to work on that assignment so that you can go home early and have dinner and cuddle up with your wife/girlfriend?

well put it this way... our MM has thrown his support behind the PRC FTs.... so.. I guess we better learn from them. Im sure they are doing the right thing to have MM Lee praise them time after time in an interview with Nat Geo.

I sent my car for servicing recently and tried taking a bus from Ubi to Geylang market... read the bus guide at the bus stop and wasn't completely sure of the direction...

Bus came.. asked driver Geylang market? he nodded his head. I took it to mean yes. It went the other way, approached the driver and asked him again is this bus going to Geylang market? only then I realised he is Chinaman.

Got down and took cab to Geylang market, my wife and I laughed about the incident... Wah is it that bad that we cannot get locals to drive the bus that we need to import from OS?

Not only drivers... we are also getting life guard for our swimming pool

No more laughing matter when it comes to life and dead!

ok, but no one is laughing... seems like everyone is posting seriously. This thread must have touched on a public nerve or something... I think generally people are ok with FT to complement our workforce but when they compete for limited resource at a time of financial downturn that is when it becomes an issue.

I think the reason is because we have realized it is not an illusion that there are more and more ft of a certain race here... and considering how our govt always say FT are educated folks... our FTs are from the poorest part of their country, mainly uneducated fellows who cannot speak English.

I have nothing against them and look at it this way.. they have setup their enclaves and they are here to stay. Just look at Geylang... not the streetwalkers but the restaurants serving authetic FT cuisine, incidentally I just had lunch there last week. Yummy.

The fact is our govt is aggressively importing these FTs not considering their educational levels etc... in a way I think it can be seens as using them to artificially increasing the population and also yes doing what locals dont want to do.

The problem is Singapore is too small. How many graduates can it support? Hence some of us will have to travel out to find our niche and how many will do that? As for those who stay back well u got to compete with FTs.

Having cheap and good labor also has it's own drawbacks, that being employers can now squeeze their staff as the theory is u dont do the job, I can employ a FT, afterall how difficult is it to get them PR to bypass how many percent of employees must be Singaporean or PR rule.

End of day we have to work harder and constantly be on our toes... the years of comfort are over and perhaps the problem is our govt's nannying has made us softies who dont have drive. If u want something fight for it... if not you can't blame these FTs who are hungry to make it from snatching it from you.

not all of them are like tt...

prc as a big country is still a developing society, and people are thinks that they are a fully develop country hence tends to might feel arrogant and little proud for those who are able to make their way here for work.

for me i dont find any prc workers fit into any of our service sector. ever since our standard has dropped tremendously over the years.

but i think prc or other citizen who are here for a job please do respect how the way Singapore works. dont ever create your own style, because it is an Uniquely Singapore.....

most important. please dress up properly, for ladies please for the freaking sake shave your arm pit hairs, it looks dam unhygiene........
Dude, since when have Singapore service been high other than the branded Singapore Airline? Don't blame it on others, when they do all the grunt work we don't.

You can always wirte to support.. nobody is stopping you, everybody can have their say. What I wrote at the begining of this thread was an actual event.

../azul123

OK let me rephrase my statement. (This has become) another PRC people bashing thread. Perhaps this is not your original intention and I’ll give that to you. Based on what I can see in this forum, I can say that you're a sensible person. ;)

I would not blame them for coming here because they want to better their lives. If you really want to find fault, you might want to consider the transport operators as they're the ones who hired them in the first place.
