Voigtlander 125mm f2.5 macro

of course you don't have the AF and HIS stuff but I am expecting the voigt to outlast electronics' lifespan of 3-5 years.

wah, no wonder got so many AF lenses suddenly stop working. :dunno:

OK, so I decided to keep it already lah... Not selling my Voigtlander.

Don't sell. Pair it with the yet to be released EF Ultron SLII 40/2 and you will have the 2 lens that will make any ladies' pants drop.

I don't know for sure how long the electronics in lenses will last. I am just trying to say mechanical should last much longer than electronic lenses.

I used it with a kenko 1.4xTC. No problem at all. You get 1.4x magnification and best part, the camera still allow aperture at f2.5.

Huh? Is this possible - same aperture?!?
How does it affect IQ?

That means I must wear belt?!! (cos I am lady.. lol!) :bsmilie:

I don't really like 40mm...
Too short on the long side; too long on the wide side... not here not there.

No impact on IQ. I'll do a test tonight and post. Busy modifying my blotched newly bought CY 28/2.8 to fit my camera the past few nights.

Oops..sorry. I thot chalib is a guy. :)

Might not be all that bad. I am looking to see if this can replace both 35 and 50mm as it would mean walking one step back and 2 steps forward. It will also make my next MF lens purchase look like a better decision...Rokkor 58/1.2. We really can do away with the stereotype focal length. Best part, it is a pancake lens which can make a FF cam look like a PnS and slip into a small carrier for everyday use.

Sorry, maybe a little off-track, but is the 40mm that good?

This lens is one of the few main reasons I am using
a Nikon Dx00 series camera
just to get the metering :)

it's that shiok to use. period.

check out Voigtlander Ultron SLII review.

I don't know about the EF mount as it has yet to be released. It is a small lens with not too bad performance.

I've read the review. I was not impressed with the bokeh and CA. Looking at the photos taken by others with the lens also sorta reinforced this.

I thought of getting it as a "travel" lens cos it's so small, but the awkward focal length and distracting bokeh put me off. I'm sticking with my Nikkor 35mm f/1.4 (distortion! urgh.........) and the Nokton 58mm f/1.4 SL II for now.

I wonder if I'll change my mind about the Ultron 40mm SL II if I had a chance to try it out for a day. Hmmm....

It's more of an everyday kind of lens that makes you want to bring out your DSLR more often. To my knowledge , there are only 3 pancakes - Zuiko 40/2, Contax Tesser 45/2.8 and this. This being the only one that will be available in native EF mount, with AF confirmation and aspherical lens element.

To show that the camera retains f2.5 even when using a Kenko 1.4x TC. Pardon the poor shot (taken with my old handphone)

no degration of image with tc. Note that MFD increases with the tc attached. However, you still get a magnified image due to the increased reach.

using old ram from my previous notebook as test subject. Couldn't find any insects in my house to shoot. :)

so besides getting a portrait lens between 100L and 135L . You also get 2 macro lens 125/2.5 and 175/2.5 with the addition of tc. I don't have the 2x tc to try. Judging by the 1.4x tc, the 2x tc may give 250/2.5 ?

Without TC:

interesting, you use a Kenko 1.4x TC with the voigtlander 125mm f.25 macro lens.
Maybe i will get one to try also. thanks for the information.

You forgot the rare Nikkor Ai-P 45mm f/2.8.

its just that the electronics dont register it but there is light loss

i used to get f2.8 on my telephoto with teleconverter on, but its actually working at around f5.6 so when it got darker it was hard to auto focus

so in terms of metering there should be some changes if you intend to use it manually

I don't know how the Canons work, but that is exactly what I have experienced on my Nikon system.

It's so rare that I didn't know it exists....not really, I did not look at Nikkor.

I am not sure on this. When I used it on tc compatible lenses, it will always show the right aperture value. My f2.8 becomes f4. When I used it on non-compatible, it does not work, eg Sigma 50 f1.4 and shows 00, shutter locked. I am using liveview and did not notice it to be dimmer. I will take a look at the OVF tonight and verify if it is indeed dimmer.

Wow...Nice find!

yes, comes with box, manual and looks like new. Cost me an arm though. I am holding it dearly with my remaining arm.
