another place with good opportunities for photography is Tai-O fishing village, there is direct bus from Ngong Ping, takes about 20 mins.

you don't have to worry about perspiring!

Its HOT HOT HOT.. prepare a lot of water when you walk around... or if you are like me who don't want to carry too heavy, then prepare to spend more money on water than food :bsmilie:

p/s you will start to love 7/11 cos it "represent" water and air-con ;p

oh i have to disagree, humidity is very high!

and you don't perspire, you get sticky and that is worse. trust me, the heat and humidity is killer although i've served the nation for 6.5 years.

well numbers only tell you that much, but at least to me here is

Singapore weather:
http://weather.yahoo.com/Singapore-Singapore/SNXX0006/statistics.html

Hong kong weather:
http://weather.yahoo.com/Hong-Kong-China/CHXX0049/statistics.html

take alook and compare. this is my opinion lah. =) everyone has different tolerance.:dunno:

I concur with you! I haven't experience anything this hot for a loong time.. and the blast of very warm air is terrible once I stepped out of the hotel. I drank a lot more water as compare to Singapore.. I wish I could go back to HK again during winter, it'll be much better :)

I am thinking of going over to Macau from Shenzhen next Sat and Sun. Read in their tourist promotion board that they offer organised tour in a day, my guess either is Macau small or places of interest are very close by one another. I am going there purely for photography and not shopping, so is a day good enough ? Is it worth putting up a night in Macau ? Also what's the general feeling about security in Macau ? any good and cheap hotel to recommend that is near places of interests ? Thanks !

stay overnight. You can walk around until very late then go back hotel. While if you need to catch a flight/ferry to shenzen you gotta rush.

well the good thing is that the weather changes really quickly in HK, so what i heard from friends is that the weather should turn cooler after the mooncake festival. Pity is that I will be back in SG before that so I can't enjoy the cool weather.

depends if you have budget .... if got $100+ then stay in macau.... but if trying to save money, i suggest this....

do and shoot what you want to in the day and evening and cross into Zhuhai BEFORE midnight to stay there o'night.... alot cheaper on ALL fronts (hotel, food, drinking etc etc) There is only THAT much night photography you can do in Macau (best is setting up tripod around the Lisboa and Wynn areas) and perhaps at hill top across from Macau Tower

If you dont feel like going back to macau the next day, can always catch a ferry back to shenzen from zhuhai.

Thanks for the advice. I will only spent the night if it has much to offer and probably take note of your advice. I would not mind staying overnight in Zhuhai or Macau itself if one day is not enough to cover most of the places of interests in Macau. Sleeping abit more will be great and less tiring. Found out that the ferry service back to Shenzhen is 20:45. Is walk-in booking in Macau or Zhuhai possible, given a U$150 budget ? Thanks again for any advice, esp to you and lamergod !

in zhuhai, walk in rates are about S$50-60+ for a clean nice hotel that is walking distance to border ..... S$80-130 for 5 star but farther away from border

in Macau, S$50-80 will get you an oldish tourist hotel ..... not always in best condition

if in winter time, u can try this one.... very charming
Go www.ctrip.comto check rates both in Macau and Zhuhai

and have a look there for Macau Guesthouses http://www.macautourism.gov.mo/en/info/accommodation.php

MUST TRY is the little food street in Taipa village (tell taxi driver or check bus that goes to TAM ZHAI ) is great......... most popular there is their heavenly Crab Porridge with plenty of crab roe at Seng Cheong ..... thanks Lotusfairy for that recommendation ....that area has a beautiful little museum and LOTS of other cafes

good luck
