Back in ancient time, during the Greeks era..talents means money.:bsmilie: Check it out in wikipedia

Can you be trusted?? You seem to have escaped from IMH(look at his location):bsmilie:

But, on the other hand, I think u r right coz i really no talent:bsmilie:

One talent is alot of marnie in ancient days. Usually used as a unit of measure of wealth in a country's treasury, much like what we use Millions, Billions in modern days u know. Why so no need talent to get a DSLR, just need at most a thousand or two to get a decent one.

Location refers to where we live isn't it ? IMH means In My House le.:dunno:

Actually for me taking photos just a hobby. So no need talent. Moreover now digital age makes DLSR so affordable and snapshots a breeze. Can photoshop somemore. So most probably you win some award, got some apple polishing your photos or carries a dslr and lens costing a few thousand dollars around don't mean you are talented. Just an ego no doubt. Don't fill your empty soul with 'photography'. Its detrimental if you don't treat the situation early.

erm...can you try to not limit to only 2 brands?
that are also SONY Pentax and other more...they all are also good dslrs...
narrow to only cannon and nikon and also SONY only if you plan to buy dslr that cost 3.5k and
above.(body only)
and those over 3.5k dslr bodies are the only reason why cannon and nikon and sony are on top of the of the rest.

I think Nikon D90 is good for an upgrade. However it all depends on the the type of shooting you're into.

But first, what do you want in a camera? Isit solely just for interest, a hobby? Or your income depends on your results? Consider those points.

This sounds like some reality drama.... "Newbie has talent!" Maybe mediacorp might make a competition out of it??? Just like the new series S factor where that "girl" said she has the "face" for fhm??? wahahahaha PRICELESS!!!

Anyway to the talented newbie, welcome to CS. This is what happens when you don't think thru what you wanna say on threads.

After 2 weeks of 'recommendations' and TS's experience with the rented cam, no sight and sound anymore. :dunno:

I saw some posts in the galleries section with the rented D60. errrm.... can't quite see the 'talent' there.
My Lumix FZ10 could've taken those shots. Hell, even my Lumix FX-33 could!

you dont need talent to narrow down your choices to Canon and Nikon...... you need light ears !!

the usual list of questions apply ....... what areas do your talent(s) lie...... studio, still, portraiture, photojournalism etc etc then its easier to decide

Give the other brands a chance..... dont be a cow and follow the crowd . LOL !

Agreed but then again, errr ... he's a TALENTED cow :bsmilie:

Hey ....

First up, I have done some read up (nothin indepth) to various brands ... and I have narrowed down to either a Canon or a Nikon.

Now I think I'm quite firm on a Nikon.

as for photography (is this how it shld be said?) .. I'm much into events, nite scenes, flashy (disco) lights, stage performances ...etc (as my current job is somehow linked to these)

........... and hopefully, I could somehow also, turn this hobby into a professional career.

P/s: When I meant I have talent, it means (I think) I can shoot some decently nice photos even without attending any basic photography courses. (which i intend to sign up soon when i land myself a DSL) ;p

Hey bro, its good to have confident...however, humbleness will lead you further...

Anyway, why not show us your shots even when using any compact cameras available out there...so that we can get a good glimpse of your 'talent'...coz your very own composition will clear the air...

happy shooting~~

Eh i got suggestion for TS......

Go and dereg this acc then sign up for another.

First post muz die die be "newbie no talent".

That way, u can surely learn alot more than now....

Well, I think TS seems to be a rather nice guy, taking pictures of his family and posting it here for all to review. I think his thread shoud be revised to 'A Newbie has passion'. Please go easy on him lah

TS... I saw you pictures.... YOU WILL NEED ONE HELL OF A TRAINING TO BRING OUT YOUR TALENT..... :hung:... You will need the basic course.. don't miss it. like me.. not humble... than suffer like hell!!! Just because I thought.. I was an assistant photog.. should be OK. Its NOT!

Good that you have decided to go for courses. Understand that you want to stick to Nikon... If Money not issue... Buy the D90 with 18~200/ 18~270/ and Practice, Critique, practice, Critique, practices....

Join a society/ club/ Forum if you intend to make this your life hobby/ Career. At some point.. it helps.... Sticking to shooting only family members will not help you grow...

All the best to your photographic journey.

Keep shooting.

Cheers.
