Appealing for witness

Hi everyone, my car was hit by a lorry in CTE near the exit of Ang Mo KIo Ave5 heading toward city, at around 7.30pm on Sat.
During the accident i was ok and we took down each other name ID No and tel before going off. Its my misstake for not making him sign that his lorry hit my car( a misstake i make very regret). i think maybe i was a bit lose during the accident.
That night after i reach home i feel some pain behind my back and was admited to NUH the next day(Sunday).
Just got discharge yesterday.I was inform by the police that the lorry driver said that he didnt hit my car and that I lie about the accident.
I sincerely appeal to those who have drove pass the area in the hours mentioned, and happened to witness the accident to come forward.
You may either contact the traffic police direct, if not call me (97461958). Hope JUSTICE can be done!!
My car is a red Suzuki SX4. the lorry is green and was carry gas.
I know this is just my side of the story, but what i ask for is anyone who witness it can be the witness and just say what u see. say the turth.

well, did you file a report at IDAC within 24 hours? or after you discharge from hospital?

you should do that, file everything against the person with all the pictures and details.

probably you never take a picture thats why he will say that. if you have taken a picture of your damages and his damages, he won't be able to fabricate the lies.

Thanks but the damage on my car is not much and i when to make a police report and IDAC report yesterday.And it was the TP that told me that he said he didnt bang my car. I find it funny,with u stop and give ur ID to someone if u never hit his car?

it doesn't concern the Police now as far as i know... since quite long ago, probably 10 years ago, don't have to do police report already...

anyway, just let the insurance company settle it. if he had repaired his lorry, they can check it as well.

A few years back my family was involved in an accident as well on CTE, the lady in front stopped the car, dad braked, but the car behind smashed into us and we smashed into the front car. Anyway, my mom felt pains as well on the taxi ride back, and she went to SGH. Dad went to the police office to file a report straight away. The claims and everything is still going on (4 years down the road).

The point is, you *have* to make a police report within 24 hours of the accident or it's void iirc, not sure if the rule changed in the past few years. Bad move on your part.

Tough luck dude, but still can fight lah.

Your version must be consistent each time they ask you. If he hits you from behind, you stand a higher chance of winning.

You have one last straw if you cant win the case here.

If i remember correctly, vehicles that carry LPG gas are not allowed to enter into CTE under the law. If he did, he made two offences (or at least one if he won your case). Pls check on this law as there is supposed to be a small sign before entering CTE. Imagine if there was an explosion caused by accident, blah blah blah...

i was caught in a similar situation about 2 years ago.

Cement truck hit the back of my dad's car (i was driving it) on the right back. made a small dent the size of a badminton racquet.... but wasn't that deep, still quite obvious and of course streaks caused by the grating of the truck agst the car.

got down, and exchanged IC details..... and i snapped photos of the position of the car in relation to the truck and vice versa.

Situation was like this
The truck was on the right most lane (which is a turning lane only) and i'm sure he realised last minute that he was on the wrong lane and tried to switch to the next inside lane (where i was) and no signal, nothing... even though i was horning and instinctively flashing like crazy..... the truck was just very slightly behind my right mirror....
It was one of those junctions which is quite deceptive....4 lanes and across the junction straight on, its 3 lanes... in fact its just outside KK hospital. so the 4th outermost lane is a turn right lane...and the arrow is kinda elongated. the lorry driver must have not been concentrating.

anywayz, he vehmently denied that he crossed into my lane.... and accused me of hitting him instead.....:bigeyes: and during that exchange, i forgot to get him to sign the report too! and he too forgot to pass to me...

i sent my car in to IDAC and STAR workshop to just get a rough quote and was quoted immediate 680...... (Performance motors quoted more than 1K). The owner called and tried to be funny, say i was on P plate, so sure lose case, and he offer to repair my dads car in a workshop that he sends his trucks for repair.... i was so fumingly mad, i told him that he should be happy i have not sent it to performance motors for full damage assessment and repairs and overhaul! anyway, after that he tried to say he'd pay me 400 and i've to come up with the 280 myself and said it was partly my driving fault too and his driver has dunno how many years of experience...blah blah blah...

anyhow, thing is, just file the report IMMEDIATELY, then go/call your insurance and ask them for 3rd party claim if u're very sure it wasn't your fault. For me, i had plenty of photos with the truck crossing the line, but my car was infront as i had to stop blocking the rest of the road....

i even called up NTUC, found out which lawyer was representing me, and called them and even ask them all the details if i had to pay anything, any loss to NCB and any chance of claiming for loss of usage of car.

well, after almost 1+ year......won the case outrightly due to overwhelming evidence.
one of the major points...why should the Cement truck be on the outermost right lane if he has no intention to turn (as claimed in his report that he was just intending to go straight)

In your case, check the clause on LPG gas on CTE.

u need to be super detailed and have as much evidence if u're sure u're not in the wrong.

I learn my lesson. Keep a camera with you and snap all the photos you can think of and keep them as evidents.

It is diificult to fight a case if somebody knock you on the side of the car or you knock into another person's car because he cut into your lane!

The TP officer said they trying to check and see if the CTE CCTV from LTA have got it, hopfully they have catch the loory hitting my back.

I hope they got a vid of it or some witness come forward. I hate it when guilty parties make excuses.

I was hit from behind by some underaged drunks during my sch days (higher edu). I was near the traffic light, drunk hit my car hard from behind, causing it to spin around 6 times. Luckily there wasn't any traffic then, at 3.30am, else I wouldn't be here typing. A ditch broke the momentum, but I was bleeding on the head when it hit the steering. Half the back of the car was smashed flat. It's a wonder how we survived.

Made police report, etc. At the end of it, the police told me the driver that hit me, told them I braked suddenly. Hello? I was at around 30kmph since I'm nearing the traffic light! If they wasn't speeding, how could my car had spun 6 times and half of it smashed? What's more the actual driver (underaged) didn't come forward, instead his brother did. My dad advised me to shrug off the whole incident and claim insurance.

Luckily some insurance agent came and snap pics of my car, etc. Managed to claim insurance. Just an advice, always have a cam/HP cam ready in your car and snap evidence!
the scene, driver and location! Till today my ex gf still suffers occasional back pain due to the force.

wow that was a very bad one dennisc, hope ur guys will get well soon too. I dont really use cam from my handphone but now i think i better get a handphone with good cam so that i can use it to take pic or video. but hope that never have to use if for this reason.
From this accident I do learn a lot of things and best of all is never to trust other.Next time must make him sign or take video off him saying that he hit my car before going off.

i guess thats why today there's plenty of camera phones in the market.

what i normally do (i dont drive) is that when i forsee something bad, i will just take my phone and switch to video.. cant see its ok.. at least got voice.
