does anyone know if pentax k10d should be around how much?

i m goin to the IT show tomoro and sim lim on sunday to feel about pentax k10d(donno if it show got or not) and canon 400D. Will be good if i know roughly how much is it.

Have you considered going down to other camera shops instead of the IT show and Sim Lim?

There are stickies respective forum from which you can roughly gauge prices

The more reputable camera shops are also listed in these lists, you should be able to get more help and attention from there rather than the IT show. For Sim Lim, unless you know their sales tactics well, you might end up overpaying.

go and google for

cathay photo, john 3:16, alan photo, ms colour

advice is go to peninsula/funan area at city hall, will have john 3:16, cathay photo and alan photo there

just walk around, ask prices, compare yourself, not happy don't buy. simple and easy. cathay photo price quite constant, also constantly a bit more expensive than the cheapest deal you can get; alan photo fluctuates like crazy, so be careful of them, john 3:16 should be quite reasonable.

if you don't mind grey set, i.e. no warranty but you can bring back to shop for them to ship back to china to repair if really got fault.. try orient photo. go and search clubsnap for this, they will have phone number somewhere, call them for quote, and see if you think it is cheap enough compared to what the other shops can offer. but this will be grey set, so if spoil already and you buay song cos shipping back to china take very long don't start a thread to kb hor.

IT show:
CANON 400D selling 1199 with a lot of freebies (useful or not depends on individual) but u have to brave the crowd. Not sure abt Pentax.

If u go to SLS, and don't mind grey sets, go to Orient Photo at 6th floor. Prices are fairly constant. However, the 2 guys are at IT Show this weekend, hence, the shop would be "manned" by the lady boss and the sales girl.

For Funan/Penisula, go for Alan photo, John 316 or Cathay Photo. LIke what night86mare mentioned, you won't pay the cheapest at CP or J316 but u will get good and friendly service. At CP, ask for Kevin Pung and mention u r from CS. At J316, Samuel should be there all the time. As for Alan, there are varied feedbcks about their service levels, therefore, go only if u really know your stuff, i.e. pricing, accessories etc.

BTW, dont recall seeing Pentax at OP & J316. I could be wrong though.
