Let's pray for the safe release of the Korean hostages

What can the South Korean government do realistically speaking? They have no control over the Taliban prisoners and if I were them, I would never release the Taliban. Releasing them is asking for more kidnappings to take place. I would rather call for a strike in which if all hostages die, unfortunate casualities of war. However I will make sure that I wipe out this group of Taliban and use them as a warning that kidnappings will be met with extreme prejudice.

Exactly Korea can't do anything because the prisoners are under US control. But i do think the US could send a strike force in to rescue the hostages...after all its the least that they should do...in recent years the US has been guilty of demanding help from its allies but refusing to do anything to help them in return...the US really should do something about the situation. Casualities of war is just a conveient excuse for the hostage situation because the US would never let that happen to its people.

why not u help those in needs in singapore...why dun you pray for those people in singapore that are suffering...you are so comfortable living here...you only see what is on tv...have u wondered why these are not shown on national tv...think about these people first...they are your fellow countryman...

its only 21 lives that might be lost...and you going to pray for them...what about those who die of hunger...what about those who staying in 1 room flat on their own...you mean you dun notice that they are also suffering? are you so well of as we are many years ago... go and look at the society around you...you think everyone is doing as well as u are?

Just ignore his messages :bsmilie:

I'm sure there are enough prayers to go around - whether it is for those 21 remaining Koreans or the old and destitute in Redhill.

It is just a matter of being aware and then sincerely praying for their situation to take a turn for the better.

The difference is that the Koreans are hogging the headlines now, while the old folk in Redhill are quietly forgotten, not only by the world, but by the people on this island.

Its all about the media people neatly packaging the story for the public, isn't it?

Every terrorist attack is pretty much automatically attributed to "the Taliban".

A roadside bomb has a snazzy name "IED".

The Muslims in Thailand have their own easy-to-remember term, "Restive South".

And now we have this Christian missionary group that could potentially have reverberations of creating a Muslim vs. Christian conflict.

Why is the US sitting idle? ...............Different skin color?

more like not our problem coz its not US citizens who are held hostage.

Apparently it is not uncommon for Korean Christian churches to compete with each other over who has the most volunteers overseas. The more volunteers and more dangerous the places, the more prestige. So you have flocks of naive, trusting, obedient people (sheep), all fired up by their pastor (shepherd), going off to some hostile environment imagining themselves to be martyrs in the making. If the Catholic church in the USA can be sued and made to pay billions of dollars for sexual crimes committed by their priests, then these christian organisations in S. Korea should be held accountable for their manipulative, exploitative preachings that ultimately sent out their believers to die in vain.

Praying doesn't do anything.

Praying for their release is like praying good weather at the start of a family outing

Religion has nothing to do with anything

A mod can step in to try to tone you down first. If that does not work then we can try other means to maintain harmony in the forum.

Your remarks are uncalled for because they are insensitive to the people in peril and you have made unsupported assumptions and accusations towards the TS.

It's good to see more people who are eventually opening their eyes and start to question and realise the real hidden agendas of people in high stake game.... Political or religious wise. Either way the leader and Pastor will never come out losing. If they release them...they can claim the power of their believe to have triump over the evil doers...they will promote more people to their cause or religious recruitment. If they all get killed, they will be called "heroes" or worst...mathyrs to the faith. This also can be twisted to gain sympathy and more people to their cause or religious recruitment. Not to say they are just trying to subtly trying to convert those "evil doers and their victim" but it is a great marketing plan to boost recruitment back in Korea.

I am sorry for those unfortunate loyal folks who went over to do their part sincerely and are held captive...I think they really were there to help out but I can't help but know they are being used for a great "something" but definitely not for a "greater good". I am not praying for help.. that is being too simplistic in my personal opinion ( and I have no reason to force that on to others) but I would hope that some how common sense will fall hard on all sides to save what's left of them and not let this get anymore ugly and gruesome.

The U.S. government wouldn't do much for white U.S. citizens, in place of the Koreans. Soldiers or government officials are another matter, but this isn't the case. The government here cares only when there is political need to care.

I really wouldn't be surprised, if the hostages were more important, if some Taliban prisoners were accidentally killed as the hostages were killed.

Talks are free, guys.

Yeap that's the impression i get from talking to korean christians...they seem to be blindly following the pastor's teachings and not thinking for themselves...

I strongly urge you guys not to go towards this line of discussion. You are talking as if you understand what they really feel towards their belief. Like Extreme Muslims believing in Jihad, these are Christians that believed in going the extra mile. When they succeed, and help many around the world, not much people applaud their efforts, but when something like this happen, the condemnations come. One believe in helping people, the other believe in detonating a bomb... so?? We will get nowhere with this discussion. It is their freedom to choose their religion and believe. The problem here is with the media monkeys. They are heating things up for ratings.

But MOST IMPORTANTLY... stay out of religious discussions in here. This is not ClubRELIGION. Its ClubSNAP.

Feel free to post well wishes in this thread for the Koreans held hostage, but please, don't go to the other extreme to condemn their church. I am not defending the church, by the way. This is their calling and the media is playing this to the max for ratings. Honestly, if they have to die for their believes, then they have done themselves a great service. Treasure awaits them in heaven for those who lose their life for the Lord will gain a lot from it in heaven. If you understand the bible... (shall not comment further).

Korea church : 23 in peril
Extreme Muslims : 230 suicide bombers and still growing... how come the media is not talking about their "beliefs"?

I hope I am making sense here...

Bringing in the bible is probably going to heat things up even more...let's just let the religious element out of the whole issue shall we? that way we we can just focus on the hostage situation.

That is precisely my point...

Anyway, back to topic... I do hope the Koreans can pull off something diplomatically to free the remaining living hostages.

me too the hostages and the country itself doesn't deserve any of this spill over from the US' disagreement with the middle east.
