Descending on city

I quite liked the contrast in this picture, though I realise some may say it is overexposed or whatnot. However, the heavy contrast looks very judgemental, or full of hope, depending on how you look at it. Either way, what do you guys think?

You're right the contrast is great but i think it could stand to be alittle brighter to show the highway alittle bit to make it more interesting.

I see your point. In a way i guess i thought the highway wasnt actually interesting in the first place but i know that on some monitors it's really really dark to the point of not being able to see. anyway, will bear your comment in mind next time, thanks!

actually i do agree too. the contrast is good and exposure well taken care of in the focus region. however, the highway just need a very very subtle lifting. i do agree it is not so interesting that you need to expose it adequately to show details, and it is fine to make it in shadows, but a little more outlining would be good since you already got a good rim lighting so dun waste them. of cos, this can only be achieved by GND or post processing.

also a little vignette may help to increase the spiral effect on the top. just a suggestion.

can i just ask, what do you mean by rim lighting?

anyway thanks for the feedback. i was pretty surprised by the outcome of this shot considering i took it on the AYE (not while driving ;P) but yeh, attention to details, thanks!

rim lighting is a kind of high backlighting with the light source higher and behind subject. slight curvature of the subject will have a bit of light spilling over giving a rim of light.

one example i always used.
