Guard of Honour Boo Boo

hmmz.. I got an innocent question...Why the newspaper never spot/edit/crop it before publishing the photo??

to maintain the "truthfulness" of the situation?? or to maintain photographic "rule" of not cropping and cutting off people at body joints? for composition? or simply cos never spot??

Just wondering...Do newspaper photographs strictly follow an aspect ratio?? If keeping the aspect ratio, cropping the last guard-of-honour out will result in the Crown Prince being cropped off awkwardly.. so is that why they left it as it is?

look like from NDU unit..all got diver badge..

aiyah sign 7 onli..

My brother is a freelance photojournalist. He has sold some pictures to ST before, and they completely butchered them to fit into their pages. So there is no 'rule' nor respect for the photographer's artistic presentation. Cropping is based on the editor's tastes, agenda, or simply the shape/size of the space.

Editor boh cho peng.. so dunno what's wrong?

please lah, it's known that the most senior specialist in the GoH don't need to fix bayonet. as for the monkey face, no comments.

and it's not a diver badge. those guys are military policemen (they wear red peak caps). the badge is the SPDS badge

well, the angle of the shot makes it difficult to crop away the last guy, dont believe you can try:p cos the 2nd last guy will prob be cropped as well.

No need to crop for news anyway... no big deal, mistakes were made all the time.

wa...since when SPDS got badge one? Some more used to be only APC that does GOH...

The 2nd one should be the shortie lor. GOH contigents are normally formed with the tallest guys at the flanks/sides tapering down to the shortest guys in the middle. A much taller guy cannot be standing next to a shortie.

Wah the bayonet is a major boo boo sia. Using SAR21 in parades is not as nice/cool as a M16.

the shortie is there because he is the specialist. the senior specialist's position is always at either end of the contingent.

hmmm... isn't the SPDS from APC?

There is a rule of not editing any photographs used in newspapers.

The rule is not to edit them to put things that are not there, or take out things that are there, etc... but heavy cropping is done all the time.
