RSP was/is an excellent raw converter developped by Pixmantec. Adobe recognised the competition (and quality of the competition) bought the company and incorporated RSP technology into LR. To avoid to disgruntle the RSP community they offerred a free licence of LR to RSP owners... so for about S$200 you have now to softwares....

Cool! Understood. Cheers for e newly LR ;)

Some quirks that I realised after some usage of the trial version (coming from an ACDSee user). I have never used Aperture before, so can't really compare.

1) It does not support recursive file folder monitoring features (ie, if I set it to Auto Import D:/Photos, it won't detect any photos within the sub-folders. I have to manually import it.)

2) It's a little slow on my AMD Opteron 146 system - especially when rendering the 1:1 previews. ACDSee is damn fast.

You need at least a dual-core system to get things working fast.

2) The interface needs to get used to, IMHO. On the other hand, I'm used to ACDSee's folder structure management style.

4) I pretty love the Develop panel, and the non-destructive editing and virtual copies. Quite easy, and fast to PP too.

The main difference is that Lightroom is a RAW developer and to make the post processing workflow as efficient as it can be. It runs fine on a P4 3ghz machine with enough memory :)

Have you already used LR? What is your opinion about it when you compare it to RSP? Is it worth to upgrade to LR or better continue with RSP?

What things are improved in LR compared to RSP?

i liked RSP a lot and beta 4 of LR was so far away from it. i did not like the liberary and how slow it was. But now i got over the liberary and LR1 is just as fast as RSP.
They took over a lot from RSP and added some really cool tools to it that RSP did not have such as the spot removal tool and red eye remover. the new autosync option allows you to do spot removal for a whole shot at the same time!! that is really great, i am not sure if other softwares allow you do the same. any other adjustments can be applied via autosync or sync to a whole selection of photos.....
i am studying the tutorial videos by Michael Tapes at the moment watch them at www.rawworkflow.com .... it might give you a better idea.
My recommendation is to switch from RSP to LR not only because newer cameras will not be supported by RSP anymore. by the way there will be a little tool released by Adobe that allows you to transfer the RSP settings to LR, so you do not need to redo the files!!!

let me know if you need to know more

Been using the version 1 trial copy. Find it a little slow on my system. :(
Thinking of either upgrade my whole system or just the RAM.....

i am running on a P4 2.8Ghz, originally i had 512MB ram, the beta was dead slow with that, now i am running with 1.5GB RAM and its pretty ok..... so a ram upgrade should do...
