sad to say, i observed this when i was there shooting the recent motorshow.
one guy was so demanding and was asking the model to do lots of poses which i can tell she's not willing to do so.
:(

i always believe in shooting them 'as is'.
they are not engaged to pose specially for you.

I agreed that photographers should not stepover the line asking the models to do this n there. ONLY if u know them well enough. :)

as a gal myself, simple poses i really wont mind.

it really makes me feel embarassed holding a dslr myself.

yes, that's exactly my point.

such photographers are putting their peers to shame! and what value does such shots does to his collection? late nights movements of hands?

if u cant beat them .. join them

i don't shoot showgirls
resulting images are never keepers

i always wonder what kicks these photographers get by collecting their pictures

maybe it is because i am jaded already

Nah... you're just wise.

Shooting showgirls only improve your photography in a very limited aspect. Those shows seldom have very interesting or even good lighting... so a Flash is usually a good idea. So, the pictures just look very similar... the "Flashed Look"... pale, whitish and somewhat flat. Some sharper than others, that's all.

The girls are also very typical. You get nicer pictures by buying, a fashion magazine... so collecting the pictures also don't make much sense.

Sometimes, I wonder why people do it... but that's probably another topic. Perhaps they just want to chat the girls up, and the camera is a good excuse? I guess that's as good a reason as any, but it has little to do with good photography. ;p

maybe yilishengxian can comment on it?the impression he gives me is he's the king of these car shows/events photographer.really admire his perserverance, patience and enthusiasm.(i'm serious)

i remembered him saying to attend a model shoot pay about 50-100(?) to shoot one model.car shows, you pay $10 and you get to shoot so many models.

I was at the motorshow for 3 days myself and seen a fair share of this type of incidents. The models do oblige to pose out of professionalism but I guess there will always be people taking advantage of the situation. Its hard enough for the models to smile and pose for hours at total strangers. Hope this thread will serve to remind us all of whats acceptable behavior in shooting such events.

and i notice those photographers who bend/squat down for pics has their own different 'agenda'.

nah .. they just hv different perspectives :bsmilie:

Different people have different photographic interest la, thus to each his own.

On the same note, different people shoot these models for different reasons, some more sinister than others.

I just hope that these photographers don't go overboard and become over enthusiastic.

where is the king's comments???
