what if its a 85mm f1/8 on top of the existing 18-105 f/3.5-5.6 VRmm?those are primes.
primes are very different from zoom lenses, especially fast prime.
if the 18-105mm guy bought an 85mm f/5.6, and 50mm f/4 (hypothetical, and both nonmacro)then i'd be puzzled.
i have 10-20, 18-55, 24, 28, 50, 70-300
the primes are for when i need dof (50mm for cats, for example, that's my cat lens, actually)...... or less conspicuous size (24/28 for street).

to put it into another way of context,
you might as well say that buying a bigma (50-500) means that the person should not buy anything from 50mm to 500mm.
can you imagine walking around with just this all day long?
a 70-300 mm and a 50mm would be smaller (and lighter) than that.
say someone own a 18-105mm but he also purchased a 85mm and 50mm.
are u one of them?
Yes I am one of them. I even have overlapping zoom lenses! OMG OMG
17-50, 55-200VR, 24-120, 50/1.4, 50/1.2, 35/1.8, 11-16
die. Like that how?
you can mail them to me.
i will help you jam the zoom ring so that you will have:
11-16
17-24
24-50
55-200
i'll keep the 35 and the 2 50s, as payment for service rendered.
