Which brand of filters is the best?

Just sourcing for info regarding filters. Which brand makes the best filter? Or does it matter at all? Thanks!

Most would reccomend B+W or Nikon

Thanks guys for the input. So if I'm acquiring filters, just tell them B+W? I'm currently using Hoya. Is it an ok brand? I'm concerned about the lens without a filter, cos I dun want to damage it due to a weak financial front Currently, I use a UV filter as protection, will this filter change the quality of the pic? Thanks for all your advices.

Hoya is acceptable.

However even within hoya there is the normal UV or SHMC ones..

If the shot is crucial, eg. paid stuff, better to go without filter as even the best filters degrade IQ.

UV filter enough for protection
use the saving and get CPL or ND filter
