1. in what area is critique to be sought?
Composition and the feel of the photo.

2. what one hopes to achieve with the piece of work?
This is 1 of my macro shot that i think is better than the rest. Clarity and depth of field between the foreground and the subject. Using ants that is an usual insect to create an unusual photo telling a story with 1 look at it.

3. under what circumstance is the picture taken? (physical conditions/emotions)
Taken in late morning when i spotted bunch of red ants on the tree.

4. what the critique seeker personally thinks of the picture
I think generally is not bad but wish to seek comments from fellow club-snappers whole heartily.

IMO, I find the object (ants) soft, the leg of the ant on the left was cut off and body partial hidden behind the tree trunk (guess maybe the ants are busy moving around and difficult to shoot).
I believe you can achieve better result if you can shot at another perspective and I personally would prefer a landscape frame for this shot.

I personally like the shot. Although the legs are blurry, at least the 'faces', which are most important, are sharp enough. :)
But I do agree that landscape would be a better option, and that body parts shouldn't be cut off.

Otherwise, good job. :)
