My first camera was a Nikon Coolpix 885. Than later a Minolta Dynax 5 and now a Dynax 5D.
I strated with the Canon 1000F film camera which I bought in 1992 and bought my first digital camera (Dimage 5) in 2001 after 1st daughter was born. I upgraded to the 7D in March 2005 last year.

Minolta 7000 (1989) -> Canon Powershot A5 (1998 / ~$1300) -> Minolta EX1500 (1999) ->
Olympus C2500L (2000 / ~$2000) -> Olympus E-10 (2000 / ~$3000) ->
Panasonic FZ20 (2004) -> Minolta 5D (2005)

Looking back, the Film SLR days spend less. The Minolta 7000 last me a good 9 years with just 3 lens. Since my first digital camera it's upgrading almost every year until the Olympus E-10.

Looking at the price of the digital camera, it's going up when it started and only in the last 1 to 2 years the price begins to fall. My P&S Canon A5 then cost almost the same as the Minolta 5D now.

Mine almost the same except instead of Kodak, my first camera was an Olympus mju P&S film :)

my first was a minolta dynax5. then strangely as technology improves and with all the digital hoohaa, i started moving backwards and got myself a 2nd hand fm10... recently just acquired a 2nd hand fm2... don't ask me why, i got a thing for manual cranks. :bsmilie:

Yashica 35 GS --> Minolta XD-7 --> Minolta 7xi --> Kodak DC4800 --> KM 7D

500si-505si super-7xi-600si-700si-800si-Dynax 7-Dynax 9-Dynax 9ti-Dimage A2-7D

Now only have 7D and Dynax 7. Decided time to let go for my Dynax 9, because I don't want to wait 6 months to get it upgraded to SSM capable.

Hopefully I don't have enuff moola to hop back to my old camp within the next few years! :bsmilie:

got those nikon P&S without zoom while I was study in Uni, but lost :( . Then bought the Canon G1 (which cost about the same as KM5D at that time), then FZ5, and now 5D..... now looking at what Sony can offer.

i dabbled in several brands...
bought a Dynax 5 with my first months pay back in 2002.
Then got a Mamiya RZPRO2. Sold it.
Then got a Olympus C2040. still have it.
Then got a Dynax 7. Love it.
Well.. now got a Dynax 5D. :)

I started with Vivitar P&S then quickly moved up to Minolta 3xi back in 1992 or so. Not happy with limited feature of 3xi, I bought 600si in 1995. This camera served me very well until last year when I bought Minolta A200. Though the 600si is still working until now, it's practically retired after I got digital camera. The A200 only lasted a short while in my hand when I decided to let go and wait for lower end of Minolta DSLR. KM5D was not available that time. I got Nikon Coolpix 2100 in between. Now I use KM5D full time.

Panasonic F1 - A200 - 5D

hummmm....

X700 ---> Eos500 ---> D70s

First was a Nikon FG-20 in 1985. First digital camera was a Canon S10 in 1999 (or was it 2000)?

Hiee Pals..

Minolta Dynax 5 (now on loan to newbie fren) --> Canon 300D

505si -> Dynax 5 -> 800si -> 7 ... The 505si outlast all of them .. :)
