What do you do when it rains/drizzle?

I will put my camera away. Although the body might be able to take slight drizzle but not the lens. It would be good to have a backup cam such as LX5.

For my 7D not much of a problem, but for my 500D i was shooting in a drizzle, suddenly an error occurred and it only went away after awhile. Literally, the screen displayed error

Sometimes, the rain provides for more interesting scenes in photography.

If it's worth it, take a picture of it. Who knows what you may get? As for your equipment, I won't be too concerned. They can handle it. I'm probably more worried about getting struck by lightning!

You can 'recreate' the Optech rain cover easily with any cheap 'buy and throw away' poncho. Easier still if your lens has a hood. Just did it recently at an outdoor event and while everyone was busy keeping their cameras as the heavens opened up, I was happily snapping away

Always have a friend to go with you and let him/her hold an umbrella... your friend will know what to do when it rains... ;p

I have carry my camera under heavy downpour before, but I will let it face down so the water will not enter the lens (hopefully..), but best to keep it in your bag.

if it's really light drizzle, i'll continue... if it's drizzle level... i'll keep it... despite that my camera is weather-sealed... not all lens has the rubber gasket to complete the seal!!

LOL I like your suggestion for the rain part AHAHAHA!!

Get
a) Olympus E3 + HG/SHG lenses
b) Pentax body + DA lenses

Either option will allow you to continue shooting (shoot pictures of other photographers running for cover), even in a downpour. :bsmilie:

I have sent ponchos for DSLR before. What I don't know is if they are self-made or purchased. They typically cover the lens and body.

Or buy an underwater casing for your DSLR and shoot.

I just keep shooting. Beenout in a heavy downpour with my old A700 and it just kept on going without a hitch.

if shooting for fun, i will stop immediately.

There was once I was doing a outdoor TFCD shoot, raining on and off, we already wasted a lot of time waiting. after the rain stopped, we went into the open, then after 20mins it started raining again, it was a slight drizzle, I didn't want to stop but the water droplet are forming on the lens filter(i didn't have my lens hood with me), so even if i had insisted, the photos wouldnt have turned out well

Drizzle, yes. In fact my fav time to shoot. That's why my outing kakis don't like me... I always do the rain dance the night before shoot :cry:

But if the rain gets too heavy then I find shelter. Bag has two layers, the inner layer supposed to be water proof so once I get the cam into there, then close the bag up, I can take my time already.
