this book is about how kids from MIT use maths to beat the casino in Vegas. made a shitload of money and makes an interesting read. sad thing is that their techniques no longer work

fellini and antonioni were both auteurs in their own right, whereas the main priority in hollywood is to sell a story rather than telling it. i take it you meant different from the mainstream hollywood at the time, as even greats like antonioni and orson welles were tied to hollywood studios at some point of time in their careers.

that sounds like great fodder for a movie eh? were they ever caught or was it completely legal?

it was completely legal. the casinos could not do anything to them. after a while they got found out, and the casinos did the only thing they could. bar them from entering their premises.

but it will make a good movie I'm sure.
