i love primes and i love manual focus!

so far i've have used:
24 2.8 pre ai - ok only
28 f2 v nice, but not nice on DX
35 f2 pre ai- v good, some flare
35 f2 ais - still testing and playing with.
50 1.2 - superb skin tone rendition, v nice bokeh, v sharp even wide open
50 1.4 - so so
50 f2 ais - really good
50 f2 pre ai - really chio!
50 1.8 ais, last version - not bad, nothing special
55 1.2 pre AI - decent, mine had haze so not objective. nice bokeh
55 3.5 - not bad, but dark =\
5.8cm 1.4 - not super sharp, but super good bokeh
85 f2- so so
105 1.8 - beautiful bokeh, like a 105 2.5 that goes to 1.8 (kept the 135 f2 instead)
135 f2 - some problems with purple fringing, but otherwise super good! very special look
135 f2.8 - so so
180 2.8 ED - superb!
200 f4 - so so
300 f4.5 if ed- pretty good.

i also use a minolta MC 135 f/2.8, and 200 f/3.5 as the nikon eqv lenses aren't good.. out of all of theses, i still have the 35 f2 ais, 50 1.2, 50 1.8, 5.8cm 1.4, 135 f2. looking for an 85, and hoping to convert a konica hexanon 100 2.5.

anyway, here's from the 50 1.2 AIS, one of my main lenses even for jobs:

sorry, this lens has been sitting around for awhile cos been playing with a few others hence the lousy sample pics.. maybe time to bring it out...

just to add abit, i use this lens in stead of the 80-200 2.8 alot of the time! especially indoors and stage performances cos of the larger aperture and even for sports when you know where the subject will be (eg golf) or when im not being paid. haha. IF(quite a big one) and when you nail the focus at f2, it really makes it look special =P

Nikkor 35 f/2 Pre AI. amazing colours and bokeh, with v v good close up performance. sadly, let go of this lens liao cos it flared too much for my liking. replaced with AIS version.

did you use with the hood? using the hr 3 and no issue with the flare

Hi all,
thanks to the encouraging response i saw from an earlier thread, i decided to start a fresh thread here.

Please keep your opinions and photos only to manual focus nikon lenses.

It would be good to keep per post to a specific lens, so that others can appreciate the legendary quality that has made Nikon one of the leaders in optical and photographic equipment.

thanks cobalt for starting this thread! :) very glad to see so many people still loving their manual focus lenses... they have a charm to them

Thanks for sharing them! This one stands out for me

thanks =) she'll be my wife someday =)

Hope you guys don't mind my participation because I love Nikon's AIS lenses on Canon's body, especially the older 40D and 5D. If there's any objection I will remove the post. Thanks.

Here is one on the 50f1.4 at f2 on 40D, exceptional color rendition and very sharp.

This thread is about nikkor lenses...you are certainly welcome to share as long as the objective (lens) used is a manual focus nikkor/nikon lens :)

Btw which version of the 50mm f1.4 is this?

Ahh...the stuff of legends :) let us hope the noise we create here will be heard by someone who has the priviledge of owning one.

Saw it on Sunday and this morning am thinking if I should......... then I realized that I can buy a D3 instead..... already got 1.4 so just managed to convince myself to forget about it this morning... until I saw this thread..... resist!!!
