for me,

i shoot in bulb mode.
F8-12 depending on background.
iso 100.

once i see the stuff being launched i press the shutter down till i see it explode then release..
more or less based on what i want to capture then when i will release the shutter

normally if i want to capture more bursts, i use a higher Fstop.
but too much will be messy too and will get smoke trails.
it will also depend on what type of fireworks to choose the Fstop.

What is the use of the black card?

When shutter is open in bulb mode to capture 1st firework and later then sky is black, the black card is placed in front of lens without touching the camera, to prevent light entering camera. this is assuming you shoot the 1st firework launch into sky while waiting for 2nd one.

When the second firework burst fires up, you remove the black card. No meddling with camera settings. If you think 2 firework shots is enough. stop the shutter open and remove the black card. Only one photo is taken with two burst.

Some people capture 3 firework shots with black card technique but some say the 3 firework shots may be too messy if all shots capture in one photo.

Depends on individual preference.

for me I may try 2 firework burst for one shot.

Definitely going tonight with a group of friends.

haha...dun mind share with us...how to properly use the black card...
i try few time on NDP...never success....

No black card also can capture nice firework.

I used these settings on my kit lens 18~55mm canon 500D during NDP firework.

F11 or F13, iso 100 or 200, open shutter a few seconds (2~5 seconds) for single shot

but must have tripod, disable your VR or IS, set to manual focus.

Sound great for all those discussions here.

Who is going there now?

Where is a good place to take?

harbourfront center carpark also can shoot.

may I ask why should VR be disabled?

may I ask why should VR be disabled?

save battery, cause already on tripod mah. :embrass:

ok actually its to prevent the VR mechanism from trying to compensate a shake when there isn't any real shake. so leaving the VR on may get you shaky images. :sweatsm: something like that lah. im sleepy.

Anyone knows the music that the fireworks was choreographed to?
