i'm in bangkok now and i've a very gd deal for the tamron 17-50.

the salesman says warranty is only in thailand. i read somewhere tht tamron warranty is internationl for the 1st yr only. can anyone confirm?

if the salesman says such things, then u better confirm with them instead of asking here. It might be grey market lens, thats y their warranty is "in Thailand only"

i asked jus in case he didn't know the warranty well.

it's the official warranty, so i guess if officially it's international as long as it's from tamron, then it shldn't be a prob

Please be advised that as of November 1st 2007, only a regional warranty card is included in the package.
However, customers who go abroad may obtain an international warranty card.
To claim it, please send your regional warranty card and a receipt of purchase to the Tamron distributor in the country of purchase.
For Further information, please contact your local Tamron distributor.
*This changeover will be implemented by each Tamron distributor individually.
Therefore, the changes in each country will vary according to our local distributor's timetable.

looks like i won't be getting the lens cause no time to look for the distributor

Even if it comes without warranty, it might still be worth it, because locally a brand new agent set is ard $620-650. At $470, it is even cheaper than second hand ones.

nvr mind lah, i'll prob be gng there again. there got this local brand tripod called vertex, looks quite gd. SGD$80 before bargaining. it's with ballhead and looks like it can hold quite heavy weight
