This is not a tornado. Just a water sprout, lah, which is quite common around this region. If it's a tornado, then we would be in big trouble.

been close to a tornado in Iowa years ago, maybe 45-50 km away, it felt like the sky is crashing in.

Basing from this statement, definitely this one from marina is no tornado :D.
Hehehe... Can we say baby tornado instead?

Regards,
Arto.
Definitely not a tornado. There is no tornado threat in Asia except Typhoon a large and powerful tropical cyclone, a low pressure area rotating counterclockwise and containing rising warm air that forms over warm water in the Western Pacific Ocean. A typhoon is called a hurricane in the Atlantic Ocean, and a cyclone in the Indian Ocean. Even then, we are safe from Typhoon which usually hit Japan, Southern China, South Korea and Taiwan.

For that case, it should be a tropical Cyclone which is common around that area and Northern Australia.

my friend confirmed that it came from east coast area and he manage to take some shots using his E500, too bad he's still in the office and not allowed to use internet

I'll try if I can ask him to email me the pics and post for him.

Peace!

Very lucky indeed. The view was quite good and rare. Light streaks piercing the clouds and sea spray were very evident! :D
