It gets fixed if you are told to do so. Nothing gets fixed if you are not told to do so, even if you know it needs fixing. It wouldn't have cost more than $50 and 30 mins to paint the entire stretch of road hump. They probably had enough paint to do so too. This is the pathetic state we are in.

road hump

Maybe the left part is due for road resurfacing... so paining the hump is deferred :)

The good part was recently resurfaced because it was opened up for cabling works. It was reinstatement. No plans to resurface the other half but I don't think painting the other half of the hump would be difficult. Apparently, some think otherwise.

I won't call this pathetic
The contractors only did what was spelt out in their scope of works
This is public spending, just do what is essential

Yes.... the World is collapsing because half a speed hump is unpaint.... maybe its a sign the Apocalypse is finally coming....

It would have been cheaper to get the contractor to paint the complete stretch of road hump the first time rather than having him to come back to paint the other half later. These short sightedness are rampant.

as u pointed out, the painting of one side is required cos of cabling works

The cost to repaint the other side would not likely be disproportionate, if to be done at a later stage

Approach any painter and ask how much will it cost to paint half your room now and the other half 3 months later. Then ask him to give you another quotation to paint the entire room at one go....... see the price difference. If he tells you the price is the same, his business is destined to fail.

I'm looking at the bigger picture
When LTA engages vendors to paint roads and bumps, it's not for a single stretch of road, probably a larger scale project containing several roads etc

Agreed that someone is not thinking with his head. Just do what is told to do and dun care what is obviously the right thing to do.

Maybe there are other reasons such as its a two lane road and it will take more time to paint the other lane. But still....

If it's your own house, would you tolerate this level of work?

Perhaps there are reasons for such actions that we are not aware of....on the 'surface' it might be unfinished
only contractors will know.

Or maybe there going to be another Road work at the other Lane?
Only the contractors (and planner) know.

Old saying "if something is worth doing it is worth doing right". Obviously did not happen here. Also please note the stripe width does not match the old. Tsk tsk

Maybe to much money going to FT program so not enough left for infrastructure maintenance??? They say this sort of thing is going on everywhere nowadays.

Taking another look at the photo it appears that the freshly painted side also has a freshly resurfaced roadway where the unpainted side does not. Maybe they are waiting for phase two to repaint the rest of the speed bump. The new skinny stripes are much less handsome than the old ones though...lol

Note how they didn't tear out the bump. They added some asphault to the road making it slightly higher than the old road also making the speed bump shorter. Shorter speed bumps...now that is a good thing.

If this is a public road, it is quite normal. You can only work on the lane you closed, cannot happy happy go close all the lanes u want, just to paint the whole hump, and cause traffic congestion. They may paint the 2nd half when they come back to work on it for phase 2 perhaps... Closing any lanes all require lta approval.

I am making an assumption here.

It's not a road painting job, it to do something below the road. The contractor has to dig it up, do whatever they do, cover it and restore the road markings.

They contracted that.job and delivered what they are contracted to do, which is not to paint the road .

Gotta wait for 1 side to dry before painting the other side. No?
