Any comments about these two lenses? I know that one is a wide zoom and the other is a standard zoom, but which would be a better deal?

Thanks!

note, 1 is a Digital only lens for 1.5/1.6 crop and another is a full frame with digital coating.

Yupps... Both are more or less the same if the former is on a 1.5/1.6 crop cam and the latter on a FF cam;)

Read some reports that 28-75mm is actually sharper.

If u need WA, dun need to compare liao...go for Tamron 17-50mm.
Must also see what other lens u have....

Which might be a better recommendation on a 1.6x crop body?
Any big diff between their autofocus speed or IQ?

Well, the other lens I have is the cheap but wonderful Canon 50mm 1.8:D

On a 1.6 body, the 17-50 functions very well as a walkabout. :) 28-75 may not be wide enough for you at the 28mm end. 28 isn't wide enough for me on my 30D.

if you use it for portrait mainly, 28-75 imho is better even on digital.

Tamron 17-50 F2.8 Vs Sigma 18-50mm F2.8, which one is better?
Other than wider by 1mm, any thoughts on sharpness, CA etc?
Tamron len performance is based on individual units? hows their quality control?

And please don't OT. This thread is comparing the Tamron 17-50 and 28-75.

the 28-75 is good for walk about but 28 sometime is not wide enough.
btw i am using it. it is good to have as next time you upgrade to ff you still can use.

17-50 wide, sharp too. but one thing i find it very nosy. the range is great for 400d in many condition and location. can alway move forword to make up for the lost from 51 to 75.

hope these would help.
