i think your original shot follows the rule of thirds better... the cropped one is too... i feel claustrophobic looking at it. details can be rescued with photoshop! i tried it... can see some of the ship's mast details and the water

there was only 1 battleship at pearl harbour, USS Missouri. But it has been mothballed and is open to public now. The rest are cruisers and destroyers..

i have pics of the sunken battleship USS Arizona during the japanese invasion in 1941. If you want i can post it for you viewing.=)

and why the fascination with battleships??

That will be great! Sunken ships underwater even makes me more excited! haha..

I dont know why I'm fascinated. Its natural I think.. since young, I like ships alot. But only battleships... used to buy lots of those battleships model when I'm young too. I like those documentary on sunken ships too.. hee..
