3.5K i may just buy A99?

Both should be priced very closely. Since both are set to retail at US 2800.
Although both are FF..but they are very different camera if you ask me. :bsmilie:

Yah a99 would be appealing for full frame upgraders. For some that already has a dslr full frame , the rx1 would be much more appealing. 35mmf2 full frame would be a great tool for streets walk about and general shooting.

If A99 there are a number of alternatives from Nikon n Canon. Unless one is starting from scratch or already using Sony A mount, A99 may not be so attractive.

I like to have an M9 + 35f2 cron or 35f1.4 lux but can't afford, so, I used to have the old Canon 5D with ZE 35f2. In today's context, a D600 or 6D plus a zeiss 35f2 should still cost more than the RX1, and yet all the discomforts including manual focus, no proper focusing screen and almost zero manual focusing aids. The A99 with a future ZA 35f2 will definitely cost more but will be a better alternative than the Canikons as the A99 is more friendly with manual focusing lens. But I prefer something small like the RX1. And the RX1 has first got to beat my 5N and Nikkor 28f2.8 ais ( I love fov between 35 - 42mm) flat before I can consider whether it's worth 3 times the price. I am expecting the RX1 to deliver knock-out blows to anyone who touches it, otherwise, wait for NEX FF.

Agree i was referring to the alpha folks especially those with tons of fullframe minolta lenses previously. There should be another fullframe DSLT from Sony. Many is hoping its the A88 =) i think it will come. now that nikon and canon has the D600 and 6D releasing.

I hope the focus speed will be blazing fast so I don't need to upgrade to the successor next year again. Actually, does it have focus peaking? I guess it focuses by wire, does it?

How good is the focus tracking for moving objects?

Does it has phase AF? It is hard to imagine paying 3k+ for a nice full frame sensor with 35mm f2 Zeiss lens but cannot do AFC with moving objects.

No on-sensor PDAF unlike the A99.

Some people pay more, M9 + 35f2 cron, 5d3 + zeiss 35f2, D800 + zeiss 35f2, and only with manual focusing.

Yup focus by wire , menu is the same as rx100 , so I am assuming it has focus peaking too

To be honest, this is the 1st camera that makes me feel like forking out nearly 4K for a compact camera. I sold off my Fujifilm X100 and Canon S95 for the RX100 and really loves it. The RX1 can only be better and that Zeiss looks sweet!

I guess those who has a FF dslr would b looking having a nice FF compact like RX1. Considering d price of it, many compact users will not want to fork out so much for d RX1.

It hits a number of sweet spots, the sensor , the f2 sonnar Carl zeiss lens, aperture control rings, leaf shutter, threaded shutter button for wired release with bulb mode enabled, and small size. Hard to resist.

Biggest disappointment ..... No evf built in.,

Changing lens isn't a big issue if this 35mmf2 is fully optimized for the sensor.

Peeps that loved the x100 will find this hard to resist

Agree. Compact users that has no desire for full fame would not buy full frame dslr either. The cost of getting the body and the lens of an equivalent full frame with 35mmf2 lens cz is easily more than rx1.

Take away the lens, Sony proved that it's possible to make a full frame compact for less than 2799 used. If we were to guess about anypossible full frame nex pricing, it would be around this range.

I presumed d FF NEX price range should b around 4k then with a FF kit lens. Considering this, present NEX 7 users by then can only sell their NEX 7 at ard 1k. Meaning we haf to top up another 3k for d NEX FF. Time to save up for next year. LOL.

Another little thing that kind put me down is. The lens hood is not included in the RX1. It dosent come with it and its going to sell as a accessories along with those OVF/EVF etc. The lens hood cost almost $200 +-. :o

Yah around there I guess. Sony will need to make a damn good nex full frame lens if they want people to take their ff nex seriously. Hopefully, it should all be Carl zeiss primes and G grade zooms. Give us a 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, and 135mm cz primes. That's all we need !! :gbounce::gbounce::gbounce::gbounce:
