Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art lens

was looking at canon version any ideas?

Give your preferred shops a call to ask? Better still leave your number for the shops to call you when stocks arrive. Reserve a copy upfront.

As a past owner of canon 50mm f1.2 L, I never regret giving up the 1.2 for this 50A.

Built quality and optics surpass the 50L totally

Agree on build quality and, distortion control sharpness at f1.4.

I still kept my 50 1.2L though he he. The softer rendition at f1.2 can't be obtained from the Sigma. Works great for baby shots and when you don't want to do too much Photoshop cleaning up your model's skin/pores/pimples hehe

Nice gear list ric. :)

So far for those who already own this lens, any problems/issues with AF ??

Are there any more nikon sets available? I would like to get them from Funan.

don't have an AF 50mm currently (Only have the 50mm f1.2 ais on my d600) and i'm torn between the sigma 50mm art and the nikon 50mm f1.4g.. weight is my biggest concern :(

how's the balance on a d600/d800 with the sigma ? any friendly shops in singapore that let you test this lens ?

Just got my Sigma 50mm f1.4 art for Nikon. Funan all shops dun have stock, Click was the cheapest. Got mine from MS color at $11xx.

God its a super sharp lens wide opened.. check it out here - https://www.flickr.com/photos/darkalfie/14476471661/ (Yes, some things are not sharp coz its out of the thin depth of field.. look at the PETS sign, bricks and the dust on the floor... lol)

Gosh, all nikon mounts are all sold out. ))): where can I get my set ):

Should have got the canon mount at Hong Kong which only cost around $950. Finally got it from Parisilk slightly $100+ more. One thing I realize it cannot be registered online for warranty due to Sigma online portal technical issues.

Email your invoice with warranty card to Sigma and they will manually key in for you to update the warranty card.

I'm not sure if anyone has already gotten their copy, but could someone please confirm if the bokeh of the Sigma is an issue in comparison to cheaper 50mm lenses, like the Canon 50mm 1.4 or Nikon 50mm 1.4. Look at the sample images that slrlounge posted a while back: http://www.slrlounge.com/head2head-sigma-50mm-f1-4-dg-hsm-art-vs-canon-50mm-f1-2

It really seems that the 50mm 1.4 has outdone all the other lenses in terms of IQ, but really lost the bokeh battle. Could someone confirm this thanks.

Yes you're right. The bokeh is not as promising!

from the link you provided,

I think it is fair to say that the 50 1.2L has better bokeh, not that the Sigma is much worse. The canon is a F1.2 lens and it is a L lens that costs more than the sigma. Was there a comparison with the canon 50 1.4 or nikkor 50 1.4?
