I'm thinking of doing a on-location shoot in JB it's a park. Not walking around, just using that specific place as setting.
my advise doesn't change.
firstly, it is not difficult to differentiate and spot the Singaporeans from the locals.
The way they wear and behave is clearly different, and Singaporeans in JB means they are there to spend, which means $$ in the wallets.
secondly, a DSLR bag is not difficult to miss.
The moment you step into JB soil, out from the customs, just watch out for people following you.
If you cannot shake them off in 5-10mins, chances are your cash and belongings will be as good as gone.
thirdly, as long as it is a public area and there are people around, many eyes will be watching.
dress different? how so?
well, this is abit difficult to explain...
brands and style is one factor, hair-style and eye-wear is another one, holding a IPhone is almost like a banner for Singaporeans.
Wearing of accessories, the bag carried and the type of footwear is a good clue as well.
Some of us might be aware and try to dress down when going to JB, but can almost never blend in.
it may sound ridiculous, but i can even spot Singaporeans in plain T-shirts
Singaporeans more "stylish"?
You are already a target when they see your car, no matter how you dress, they know you are a Singaporean.
If you cannot shake them off in 5-10mins, chances are your cash and belongings will be as good as gone.
Travel in packs of 10 and above. Stand in the middle of the group so if anyone gets mugged, you're still safe.
