this is what i will do .. hmm meter the background then use a slave flash fill in the dark subject .. adjust ur F stop for slave flash expose (use manual mode will be easier IMO)

this will work

or(without flash) meter the background,u get a underexposed subject

in photoshop u create another layer mask the background , the adjust level of ur subject .

correct me if i am wrong .. i just a newbie :bsmilie:

Hmm... the sun was strong and the white sand reflected too much... hence its seem that the background was overexposed. Do you have any tips to prevent the white strong reflections?

A circular polarizing filter will solve this problem. The cheap way is to take 2 pix, one over and the other under, and merge later with Photoshop(r). hth

Hi all..

Dear all S1,2 and 3 users.

I am wondering if anyone can advise me on the use of MACRO. Seems like i have lots of trouble focusing when i wanna take macro shots.

Thanks!!

Did you press the MACRO button before you started shooting for macro?

It is located on the left side of the cam, near the lens. Next to the word 12x.

Remember to press this before you shoot otheriwise it will not focus. I have no trouble getting macro at 0cm.

Thanks for the replies!!

Yes i did on the MACRO mode. Wee lee, i really love the close up you done on the insects and flower. jus couldn't get it with my S3.

Manual? i did try a couple of times, but the camera jus cannot focus. I shall try again soon.
can't wait to see my S3 reach her potential.

Hi guys,
sorry if i'm interrupting here :)
I'm new to my S3 and new to clubsnap.
anyone can suggest where to get the wide angle? does it have to be from canon?
I intend to shot architectural buildings & interiors.
Thanks a lot!

Hi Sony,

Welcome to Clubsnap.

You will first need an adapter for the Wide Angle Lens
www.lensmateonline.com
www.raynox.com

The above are sites for adapter made of metal as Canon's is plastic.
Not necessary to buy from Canon as some of us here have got Raynox DCR6600PRO WA Lens and it gives you a 23mm wide angle view.

Thanks Felix for your info!
Will try to search in AP and MS.
Cheers!
