You may need a diving case to protect your camera! :bsmilie:

be prepared with your goggles.
especially at waterloo street.
the incense are too much for your eyes to tahan.
later very difficult to shoot

Hi all,

Does anyone know any details about an event during Chinese New Year Eve or Chinese New Year Day where aunties all rush into a temple to be the first to put joss sticks onto an urn.

Can we be situated inside the temple first before they rush in?
Maybe you ask the temple owners to organise a "CS photographers rush-in" event first before the actual "aunties rush-in".

Most probably i'll be going to Guan Ying miao on CNY AFTER the fireworks.. hehe.. i'm gonna be there taking pics from the outside and when the crowds leaves, then go inside to put joss-stick..

hmmm... i went there just sometime after midnight (accompanying my father).
not as smoky as compared to a few years ago.
the smoky atm was due to the incense from the joss sticks.
i remembered the very first time i went, the whole greenery in front of that HDB block facing the guan yin temple was full of joss stick that in the incense from those only filled up that whole area.
wah... that time. step into the crowd for a few minutes already started to tear.
can't even shoot properly.
but this year is so much better.
no tears from me.

This reminds me somewhat of my childhood days... I put on my swimming goggles when my folks took out joss paper to burn... :bsmilie:

In fact, I used to put some Optrex in the goggles, too! :bsmilie:

i think the effort made to go dowm there and have the pic taken deserves the  .
