Wow, lots of comments.. Thanks guys!!

great reverse lens shot of the eye

Thanks!

actually i'm kindof freaking out after the eye shot

i've never been able to get so close with the 100mm macro...
must try with extension tubes and see if i can replicate this distance...

wowzers man...

Haha, go try and show your results =)

I LIKE THE EYE SHOT....very nice testing with 85 + 50.
So you bought the 85 f1.8 instead of getting 90mm macro?

Thanks for the comments! Um, I never actually wanted to get a 90mm macro. I initially wanted a Sigma 150macro, but since Canon dropped prices, I got the 85mm straight away.

amazing! great work!

Thank you =D

Amazing !

Thanks~

Great eye shot!

Thanks so much =)

The eye shot was awesome...though kinda scary..

More reverse macro shots. Same setup. Strobist: 580EXII about 80cm away from all subjects. 1/4 power direct or bounced.

Ignore the dust. My 50mm rear element was exposed to the environment too long.

Death.

Ant was exactly 1mm x 2mm.

Another One Bites The Dust.

No ants were purposely killed in the making of these photographs ^^" they probably died of natural causes.

I can't imagine cooked rice grains look like this.

Cheers~

Wow, lots more people asking how I did it hehh.. Here's how. Excuse the OOF 2nd shot; my dad isn't a very well versed photog.

50mm f/1.8II reversed; 85mm f/1.8 mounted on 400D gripped
setup1sd7.jpg

85mm f/1.8 - Set to minimum focusing distance (85cm):
lens1fk3.jpg

50mm f/1.8II - Set to infinity (focusing portion totally rotated in):
lens2yc0.jpg

Hold them together like so:

This is how it looks from the front:

My nick is Headshotzx haha.. Why's everyone thinking the x is there for show =(

Hope this helps!

ohhh... so this is the way to do reverse macro... i used another method when i was in Taiwan... i reverse my lens and try to balance off the camera with 1 hand and the other hand holding on to the lens... thus i am only able to use M mode... set the shutter speed and iso only... and from there i am able to get decent photos but ultra grainy!!!

Hey bro.. From the photo the strap look different. I think its not the canon strap. What strap are you using? Sorry for OOT:D
