Hey guys! Haha. Just got my 85mm not too long ago and thought of trying reverse macro with it. It worked! 85mm f/1.8 mounted and 50mm f/1.8II reverse 'held'. None of the pics are cropped unless stated.

What you see is about 1cm square.

aaand my mom's eye.

100% crop. Can see the circular and radial muscles here. I'm definitely going to show this to my bio teacher.

I guess I'll hold off purchasing a real macro lens for now and start shooting reverse macro on non-dangerous things. Will keep updating this thread with more pics when I have time.

Cheers!

Thanks for your comment!

Imagine this:

with this lens, held in the opposite direction (front of 50 held to front of 85mm with filter)
Canon-EF-50mm-f-1.8-II-Lens.jpg
. That, plus a 580EXII on tripod aimed straight at the eye, about 1m away triggered with radio triggers.

oh man... AWESOME!!! it really freak me out when i saw the eye shot... i tried reverse macro with my 300D and 28-105 but it turned out to be grainy...

Haha thanks for your kind works. Grainy? What'd you mean by grainy? For these kinds of shots you'd need an external flash on-camera or off-camera ala strobist. to get better DOF (I used 1/100, f/22, ISO 800 for this one, and adjusted flash to expose correctly.)

The setup took 3 tries to get it right, and this was the 3rd try. By this time my mom's eyes were kind of tearing already, which explains the unusual amount of liquid on her eye. She was amazed by the shot though.

this is amazing!!

Thank you :D

Not at all. I had no idea that I could capture the very muscles I studied about in biology class.. Haha... thought they were very small. I'm proven wrong again.

Thanks for your kind words man. Yes, you can clearly see that there is refraction going on inside the eyeball due to the eye lens.

Yup. Not sure about the mathematics of magnification, so someone please enlighten me if anyone understands.

Thanks everyone for all the comments!

nice!! machiam like a crater taken from the sky..

actually i'm kindof freaking out after the eye shot

i've never been able to get so close with the 100mm macro...
