I'm a Canon user. I always use raw to take all the picture in my 50D so when wanna convert to JPG. I see IQ drop alot after I convert to JPG. I use DPP to convert from raw file to JPG.
Anyone encounter this? Or i miss up some step?:dunno:
Erm. I think the step you are missing is an understanding of the basics of digital file formats. JPEG is a compressed format, by it's very definition you would lose sharpnessand details. Compression generally works by discarding data deemed unnecessary. This is why one last sharpening pass is the usual methodology when touching up JPEG images.
In Convert and Save or Batch Processing, you can set the JPEG compression quality. 10 is practically lossless (unity quantization), even 8 is visually close to lossless.
Something somewhere along the way is off if the IQ drop is so noticeable ... unless you're peeping at 500% and above, by which time, anything would look bad.
