during PP when u crop ur photos, do u crop to a standard size or crop to any size u wan?
must there be a standard width x length we must stick to?

Depends on your choice of output.

If you want to print, then you need to stick to the prescribed ratio.

E.g.

4R at 4" x 6" 2:3 1200 x 1800
8R at 8" x 10" 4:5 2400 x 3000

etc...

If you are doing it only for web output, then it's all up to you.
