Revuenon 55/1.2 at f5.6

Just one of the many very good 50mms out there for those who don't mind MF.
No need to whine over the increased cost of the FA50/1.4
I did not, considered the options for fast 50mms, and got this wonderful lens for less. ;)

as i know revue 55/1.2 is not exactly cheap

Seriously, all the Pentax 50mm are good, depending on personal budget and required speed (f-stop). (K50/1.4; K50/1.2; M50/2; M50/1.7; M50/1.4; A50/2; A50/1.7; A50/1.4; A50/1.2)
some others are
Voigtlander 58/1.4
43ltd

Many complain about softness wide open for the 50mms, but I tend to find that they are sharp enough wide open and a lot of complaints come from lack of use of a hood, mis-focus or bad copies.

The Revuenon/Cosina/Tomioka 55/1.2 is not really expensive considering its a f1.2 lens; uncommon; good quality and cheaper than the FA50/1.4.

The above shot was PS from 3 photos. I was trying to capture the sequence of the bird landing on the branch. Somehow the indivual images was not very sharp.

I set the KX to auto 11 pt AF and AFC (f4, 1/2000). Once the bird came near the branch, I did some burst shooting. Thus wondering if the settings was correct or I could have set it differently for a better capture of an action sequence.

I would not have done the same in my humble Pentax life.

did a 30 sec exposure with my DA12-24..at 12mm..the distortion at the side seem quite obvious to me

This is perspective distortion and has nothing to do with the lens you are using. You will get this effect regardless of which wide angle lens you use. If this is not the effect you want, then you have to aim your camera more perpendicular to the subject.

What a nice composite image.

a bit stating the obvious but wanted to share a negative example from an experimental setup. basically, flash on camera hot-shoe, diffused with soft-box.

results no good. shadows too harsh. :thumbsd:

its much better to place the flash off the camera, whether triggered via slave mode or cable. this one's done via slave mode.

DIY-ed myself a pop-up flash diffuser for macro and did some tests with the new setup
