Performance of AF-S DX 17-55mm

I heard some bad comments about the len not being as sharp as it should be and vignetting occur when used with filters. Can I know if users of this lens has this problem?

The 17-55DX is a great lens. Very useful as 24.5-82.5 effective.

There is absolutely no vignetting. Sharpness wise is subjective. most people compare the 17-55 with the 17-35.

I think after using the 17-55, sharpness wise, they are equal. Colour, contrast-wise, the 17-35 will beat the 17-55 hands down.

However, you're looking at a $700+ price diff in favour of the 17-55 DX. More reach, being DX you are paying for what you are using with a 1.5x DX sensor.
