Passenger Hijacked CityCab And Knocked Down Cleaner At Budget Terminal

I don't understand why the nationalities/races here matter. Whether it is a Chinaman, Eskimo or an African behind the wheel, or a Indian, Caucasian or Middle Eastern cleaner, this is still a tragedy because a life was lost for no apparent good reason. If the courts were to pick and choose based on whether "XXX will Vprotest", or how many people there are in the accused's country, it would be a sad day.
it involves foreign affair. And that complicates the whole damn case

Well, the direct translation is "smelly", it's debatable if "smelly" should be deemed vulgar but in most cases, the word is used in a derogatory context.

In our dialect, chao could mean misbehave / irresponsible / hooligan

It is never a straight-forward language translation or simple math that state 1+1=2

He took a life. He pays for it with his own life.
PRC national will understand this:
血债血偿

same with local drivers. they drive recklessly, they knock down someone and harm them seriously or even kill them, and all they get is a jail term and hefty fine.

Anyone know how to donate some money to the cleaner wife ?

no point death sentence or jailed this PRC. just make him stay in singapore and work the **** out of him n make him contribute 90% to whatever he earns to support the surviving family for the rest of his life.

if he still has conscience, he should compensate the family..

yes newspaper seems to infer psychological problem for that man

i dunno why newspaper already started to defend the man before all finding are concluded

You must see which paper... the ethics of local 'journalism' had never impress me.

I recommend the movie Shattered Glass (2003) for anyone interested to know more about the strict honor in journalism vs inaccurate reporting of unverified facts to further personal or the paper's own agenda.

will check out this movie :D

No reporter bothered to interview the taxi driver to find out more about the case?
What sort of sloppy journalistic reporting is this?
Don't handle this case with kiddie gloves. Impose death sentence on the PRC national since he killed another person willfully and recklessly.

Don't worry that PRC will protest. They won't. These kind of guys are worthless to the PRC govt. Their lives mean nothing to PRC that has 1.3 billion people.
Maybe he lost money at casino and got no money to pay taxi driver, so want to pick a fight. At same time want to escape the loan sharks.

Its the right thing to do for PRC.
Better than those so called enlightened western countries where they think only their laws should be applied to their citizens. (think Afghanistan shooting)
Like as if they were still the colonial masters of the world.

Sadly, this is SGP. Even if there is a large fine, it does not go to the victim's family.

Airport should allow his wife to take over her husband job so that she can continue to put food on the tables for the children's. Training provided free of course.

They are both cleaning supervisors earning sgd$1.2k each. Changi Airport gave info on their Facebook page on how to donate money to her since many people asked.

I heard from a friend working in the airport that more than one passerby stopped the hijacker and gave him a few whacks.

no it does not... and remember, we are the country that caned an American's rear end even when the American President personally asked for clemency...
