does latest batch having the same problem?
You can count me in too (Unlucky Owner Club of Nikon 24-70)......my 24-70 complete barrel changed but lucky found the problem
in time before warranty expire. As this is my main working lens, now wondering when will
the next trip to NCS
Thankfully the batch last year doesn't have this issue being reported. There are reports of brand new lenses shipped with the grinding issue though, so be sure to check properly before you hand over your dough.
wat a pain, if me... i think i'll will take my lighter out and burn the customer service:bheart: ..
if let say.. your 24- 70 is something happening soon, do u think they will tell the truth if still under 2 months warranty ? and repair it FOC for u ?
Hmmm...
that's like 3 cases I count here ?
Either you guys are seriously giving this lens a big workout on a daily basis or that there is some design flaw which has not been openly addressed by Nikon.
Any idea if this is a cited problem on other major forums as well ???:dunno:
Actualy the biggest joke from my research in various forums is the people getting this issue are the ones who do not use their lens frequently, save one wedding photographer on assignment. :dunno: Most of those affected bought thei lens during 2005 to 2007. No cases noted in 2009 posts, a few during 2008.

Huh ?? The current Nikon 24-70 has been around that long ? Since 2005 ?? I always thought it was released sometime in later half of 2007 ?? :dunno:
Been following this thread with a bit of sadness and disappointment. Can you imagine paying $70K for a brand new Japanese car and then having to fork out another $27K after one year just to continue using it?
Glad I have a small collection of good old AIS lenses.![]()
At least for lenses, you can use the old AIS without the need to fork out a few thousands to get a "Certificate of Entitlement" to use it beyond the 10yrs. hahahahaha :bsmilie:
