why do threads get locked that frequently in CS?

kopitiam, i open a table, i invite all csers for tea and to chitchat, then someone comes along, and close the table and tell us to move on?
it's not as if the conversation has got into flames or into political stuffs, so why lock it?

si on, my thread was harmless.and i was really trying to vent things out here.
i like cs and this is a channel for me to vent my frustrations with csers here.they had been very encouraging and i have to admit i made a lot of good friends here, you included.
so why lock my thread?just because of a few off topic posts?

it wasnt a heavy hand.it was a clueless one.

well like you labelled them yourself, 'cleaners' ?
someone has to do the dirty job... i had been a mod before. people called us mods as janitors and kaypo etc etc. dont take it personally as they do have some rules to follow and to clear

Anyway.. chill... there are always different ways on how different people work on forums. It's never an easy job being a Mod, but sometimes I do agree that it's easy to get trigger happy esp when you do encounter a few which does get out of hand....
