The sensors of the future will certainly not be silicon. But biological. Your eye paired with the brain, could become the best camera you have someday.

I have had one of these for years, it fits under my cap and feeds to a pair of 3D glasses and stores images on an 8 terra byte hard drive in my left ear.

It has a clip on filter tuned to shoot through clothing but additional sensors detect if the subject is male or female, thus avoiding convultions.
