heard about an new DA 11-16/2.8 lens (same as tokina 11-16/2.8)?

It's not in the official roadmap... so probably not so soon? But it's a good guess that Pentax will have it in the future - that'll make a complete range of DA*, f2.8 zooms from 11mm to 135mm! :D

Yup... I really don't see it coming that soon... but Pentax surprise us?

I think Pentax 12-24 is pretty good already ... yes, not f2.8, but really good performer.

What about the DA*55mm f1.4? I saw claims that it's already selling in China / Japan.

Is it true? Any sample pictures already??

Yes, it is already available in china 2-3 weeks back and adorama and pentax webstore have also listed it in stock.:D

Ya, I guess this is available because it is available on the US web store.

USD $800, very expensive.~

More discussion (in Chinese) on the DA* 55mm f/1.4 plus photos... Sigh... money no enough :what:

Those guys who did the test are my buddy friends in China ;) And base on their experiences, it's a very good performer, not as good as the FA*85 yet, but it's still an excellent portrait lens on dSLR camera. And best of all, it works on film camera (w/ on-body aperture control) w/o any problem

FF compatible ?? till FF arrives, its on hold for mi...

Yes, seems the lens works pretty well on full frame film cam :)

FF or not, funny thing is, Nikon just released a 35/1.8 APSC lens:

I guess APSC won't be dead anytime soon, even big players like Nikon are still investing on APSC lenses :D

I prefer the APS-C FOV. Hope APS-C could stay forever and not be obsoleted by FF.

Surprised ... esp. when you have got the FA Ltds. I would love to see them in action FF the digital way.

Don't think they will be obsolete so soon as Pentax had not even come up with 1 FF yet ... I'll definitely be keeping one of the APS-C bodies, and use them as "teleconverters" for lens like 300mm or 400mm (for birding). :D

35mm is a versatile focal length and for APS-C is about what the traditional 50mm on 35mm film feels like. The only thing is the current AF 35mm f/2D has been around since the mid-90s and doesn't offer AF for users of the Nikon D40 and Nikon D60. Looking at the photo of the lens it screams "budget" to me. :bsmilie:

APS-C will continue because the user base is already there and with the current economic crisis, FF camera sales will take a big hit as would be buyers tighten their belts and put off upgrading to FF.

Don't be too hasty to come to such a conclusion.
Wait till you try out FF... bigger viewfinder, nice bokeh, getting back the wide angles are just some of the benefits. Of course the macro and birding folks will prefer APS-C but if FF does come to Pentax don't worry, as humans we have survived by adaptation... :bsmilie:

Some of my DA limiteds will be rendered less useful. >:

I just hope they can co-exist rather than FF phasing out the APS-C. And I do love big view-finders. Ha.

off topic: last night i read about many complains on K10D on the back focus or front focus issues (never had that problem when i was in canon's camp before) and a utitily to enable debug mode on the K10D for calibrating the AF system. I dl the program and indeed my K10D focus is quite a bit off (FF) which I always thought it's my DA40mm and Sigma lens problem. I went ahead and calibrate it and solve it once for all.
