$1200 is a superb price. If only I knew this 'Mr X' trick 1 week ago... :bsmilie:
I went out with this lens coupled with a 5DII and 580EXII to Hort Park. 1st time into macro and was rather pleased with the results.

Interesting... I was thinking of getting this lens myself. Is your comment from your own experience or did you read it from somewhere?
I took about 130 shots on my 5D2 (half of those with with flash, IS off) and battery dropped from 95% to 76%. I used live view for 20 over shots as well.
This is my first outing with this lens. Normally I will end my session with 200+ shots with below 50% on 5D MK-II. Today took less than 80 shots and it is 50%.
Giving it a little more logical thought, I am not going to dispell the fact that I half-press the shutter many secs more per shot than 24-105mm as this kit lens was meant for landscape and close up. On the kit lens, I tend to compose, focus and shot.
But macro, I compose, hold shutter, shift move lens back and shoot. As I don't use tripod, keeping position fix is tough for me. This causes the IS to run much longer thus drains the battery. But I prefer this reason.
When using flash at 1/160sec for macro, the IS is not required. FYI

Guys, my sincere apologies. :sweat::sweat:The latest update on the price is $1284nett. Is actually $1200 + 7% GST. If you can get it cheaper....do share it here. I would like to grab one by this week.

Is ok..My freind in fact called and quoted the secrete ccode "Mr. X". Kelvin from PA told my friend to sell him back at $1200. :bsmilie:
