Need suggestions for camera

Hello, I am a newbie just starting out in photography (well not exactly). I have been using a fully automatic Minolta camera.
I intend to involve myself more with photography, hence I am looking for a decent SLR camera start with (low-mid range), which is relatively easy to learn.
I am looking at the Nikon F55 and the Canon EOS 300V.
Which do you think is more suitable?

Hi,

If you are considering a SLR, I would suggest you get at least a F75. Think its quite a good camera for a starter. The F55 will be okay. But think you might want to start off with something a little better. Of cos price should also be a factor. That one you have to decide for yourself.

Just my opinion.
