how about The Promontory @ Marina Bay which is directly downstair in between THE SAIL and MBFC? This is my favorite location for SOP fireworks(can never go wrong) but you might need to go chope a place at the waterfront around 4-5pm?

If you want aerial view, you may consider going to level 33 bar/restaurant at MBFC? They have an exterior gallery for people to chill out with beer(view is something similar to THE SAIL). but FYI that place is very crowded and you need to spend quite abit. been there a few times to take MBS laser show. quite a challenge to setup tripods as the space is quite tight with other patrons staring at you as if you are an Alien. But can be done if you are lucky...

No.. but you must patronize the bar la..... You can grab a beer before 8pm... I think is around $15??? Their starters are quite yummy too...

U mean level 33 bar? Eh.. yes if you manage to get a table at the veranda just beside the railings.... if not you can still try to squeeze if you are thick skin enough(which is not very nice as will cause nuisance to other patrons). The time I went(the photo I attached of MBS laser show), we were lucky to get a table to ourselves at one corner.. so not a problem setting up tripods =)
