I think sensor not damaged, unless you used it for video/Live View. Eg during operation the aperture blades open. Anyway that's easy to check what.

Laser light can damage your sensor, you get lines in the picture etc....

Sony A33 and A55 sensor is always exposed due to the translucent mirror, so there's chance of damaging it during normal operation. But luckily my sensor not damaged. Today tested and inspected the photos, all of them looks ok
