Spotted in Kent Ridge Park in February. I did a search of monkeys in Singapore, but this doesn't look like the images of a long tailed macaque I found on google (I could be wrong, since I don't know how much variation there are among individuals).

Thanks in advance.

yeah does not look like the common macaque i see in BT. hmmm

kent ridge park??? this species dun exist in singapore.
it's a Spectacled Leaf Monkey.
did u see just one or a group of them?

WOW! leaf monkey!

probably some guy illegally imported it and released it to the wild. :(

Really, Kent Ridge Park. Coming in from Science Park, walked past the pond towards Pasir Panjang side, about 5 minutes past the pond.

There's only this one individual. Seems rather tame too, tried to slowly come towards us, but we moved off to avoid any contact with it.

Thanks for the help with the ID. It does look similar to some of the images I found on google.

That would be so irresponsible. Wonder if it can survive if released into wild on its own. Wish I had posted this earlier :(

normally no... they are already domesticated. :(
but hope he is a tough fella.

i even heard of friends who wants to release rabbits to SBG. :bheart: crazy irresponsible owners.

Have not been to Kent Ridge, but are there monkeys there?

Kent Ridge as in NUS? That's a matter of opinion :bsmilie:

But Kent Ridge Park, I guess so - there's a big sign near the canopy walk warning of a fine for feeding monkeys.

haha... speaking of NUS... indeed there are a handful of weird monkeys there too. :bsmilie:
