I think the title is SanDisk Extreme 1 GB ..... if you want to discuss about Lexar CF, I suggest you start a separate thread, it is pretty rude to defile the parent product discussed and promote your own product in the parent thread.

;(

I apologise. I was responding emotionally to a message. It won't happen again, sir!

To steer this thread back to its original purpose... is anybody still interested in participating in the MO?

Can put me down for 1 piece if the MO is still going to take off.

Thanks.

Folks, This is the reply from SanDisk US on my earlier query if an Extreme
CF card bought in the US but used outside of the US is faulty, what are the remedial actions one can take.

Thank you for contacting SanDisk Technical Support.

If the card is defective, we will request some information and refer you to a Sandisk distributor in your country to replace the card for you.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to reply to this e-mail or contact our technical support department toll free at 866-SANDISK (866-726-3475). Our technical support team is open Monday through Friday, 7 am to 4 pm PST. Have a Great Day and thank you for choosing SanDisk!

Now we can buy with confidence from the US......I feel sorry for the resellers/distributor of SanDisk in Singapore as they are doing themselves in
with much higher prices, lesser warranty.....

3 more names and away we go.....anyone else? ;)

no worries about packaging too. the Extreme cards are well protected in sandisk package. There's also a mini-CD for the image recovery software, a soft pouch for two cards and the usual plastic holder for the card.

Do you need to work in extreme temperature ranges from -13º to +185º F?

If not, my advise is save your money and get the Ultra II instead.

That's -25º to 57º C

Ultra II and Extreme are both rated at 9MB/s write and 10MB/s read.

Thanks for the advice....

However, does the Ultra II come with the stuff the Mpenza mentioned?
Also, the difference in B&H for Ultra II and Extreme is about between S$40-50
only.

For me, the card is useful for the type of places I am planning to go
even though it is unlikely that I will be in a place lesser than -10 degrees celcius..

You think the software is worth that much? BTW, FYI: the Lexar ImageRescue software works with my cards not just theirs.

On temperature wise, I think most of us are too obsessed with specs... what kinda CF you think PJ used in Afghanistan and Iraq... just your normal card, even the old MD.

My advise: don't pay premium for stuffs you do not really need.

Agree as a general principle that we try to buy something within our needs...

But for electronic stuff, it is hard not to get swayed into buying the best technology one can afford if the pricing differential is not wide...

One question? Can I use the Lexar Recovery stuff on a SanDisk or any other
CF card for that matter?

I am currently using the 10D and the Lexar 40X seems a tad too slow for me...
the Roger Galbraith website actually mentioned that the fastest card should be used for better performance on the 10D given its slow read/write times.

There's software like this one too:

http://www.datarescue.com/photorescue/purchase.htm

have to pay for the datarescue software mah. if you factor in the price of the software, it makes the Sandisk extreme even more worthwhile.

anyway, the price of the Extreme from B&H is cheaper than Sandisk Ultra II sold in Singapore if I'm not wrong.

I've gotten one myself.... more for novelty than speed ;p cos my camera doesn't make full use of it.

Let's not stray off topic from the MO.

Well 2-3 more persons ordering this will be excellent...

If not, will have to recheck if the postage price will change for just two.

Anyone else?

The answer is Yes!

I'm looking at an auction for a 2gb card, so please hold off on my piece for the MO. Prices are good on the auction boards for both the 1 and 2gb.

No problem Terence.....I am planning some B&H purchases
which will average out my cost of shipping.......

Plan to order next month and if you still have interest then you can pm me.

cheers

hi, pardon me for being new, what is the B&H shop u guys talking?

tks

It is definitely worth taking a look at this website....

Went to CP yday and the Canon EX1.4 II was selling for S$680!!!
Comparedwith B&H , thats almost like S$180 more after shipping
and GST!

Definitely waiting for exchange rates to drop a little
before I order from them...
