Hello Everyone
My wife and I will be going for a holiday trip to Europe on 11 May 2010.
Instead of the usual sightseeing holiday, it will be a full detailed battlefield tour where we will visit World War 2 battlefield sites.
I love war history and the battlefield tour is only possible with the support from my wife,
King Tigress, since most ladies aren’t very keen into such tour.
Her full support, assistance, patience and understanding make this impossible trip possible.
Since my previous trip to Europe in Oct 2008, where I have taken the photos of the Real King Tiger, Panther and Sherman tanks;
I have notice there is a lot of “worth to see” battlefield location in Europe, where many major and local battles were fought during World War II.
Soon, after returning to Singapore, inspiration and ideas comes into my mind.
After doing intensive battlefield study, planning and research for the past 2 years,
I have draw out an invasion plan for this trip.
Namely some of the places we will be going
D-Day and Normandy battlefield areas
All the 5 D-Day Landing Beach : Omaha Beach, Juno Beach, Sword Beach, Gold Beach, Utah Beach
Sainte-Mère-Église
Pointe-du-Hoc
Carentan (also shown in the war film “Band of Brothers”
Villers Bocage
St Lo
Falaise Pocket
and etc.
Operation Market Garden battlefield areas
Hell’s Highway
Nijmegen Bridge.
Arnhem Bridge (also shown in the war movie “A Bridge Too Far”
The Oosterbeek Perimeter
and etc.
Battle of the Bugle battlefield areas
Bastogne
Elsenborn Ridge
Foy
St. Vith
Malmedy
and etc.
So stay tune for many many many many many photos coming in June 2010.
