Hi all! I'm new to close up photography and micro and i got a few questions in mind.

Currently i have a D80,18-135mm kit lens, a 50mm and a light box. But i feel that i can't get close enough to get the details of the Ring from a 50mm. Is it due to my settings? I read a lot on the forum about people talking about 60mm,105mm and Tamron 90mm which got me a little confuse.

If i get a 60mm, what is the settings that i should use?

i believe its got noting to do with your settings... each lens got its own Minimum focusing distance & Magnification ratio.
Maybe others can explain better than me... :sweatsm:

Normal prime lens without macro capability has a longer focal length and do not do 1:1 mag on shot. For your case, I suggest that you stack a Raynox 250 DCR to get a better focal length and framing for macro.

A lot of shooters get Raynox.
I personally use it if I'm not carryin my macro lens.
Its gd for unforseen oppotunities for macro rather than carryin another lens.

That being said, stackin a Raynox on macro gives magnification @ é expense of focal length.

Do look up Raynox local site for more info.
